Yes - and, as a new user, you'll have to request the option for international shipments similarly. In my experience working with the guys in the New York office, it was fairly quick (even though they don't explain that you need to do so).

the main purpose of using Parcel Pro has always been limiting the risks of theft/customs by reducing all signs of true value except to the sender, receiver and insurer.

You appear to be saying that the intent of using parcel pro with Fedex is to reduce customs duties/taxes you get charged, and if that is the case you misunderstand what the page about the discrepancy odd boy posted above is for.

First, I'm quite sure parcel pro is not there to help you defraud your government of duties and taxes due on an imported item. They are essentially an insurance broker, so yes they are there to insure the contents of your package. The rules they have for the specific descriptions used for items, the rules for limiting certain business names on their forms, and the rules for packaging are all there to protect parcel pro (or those that under write the policies) and not really for your benefit...its to limit their exposure to a claim.

The page with the discrepancy posted above is one I see on most watches I send back to people after repairs in other countries, because the insured value is what the repaired watch is worth, but that is quite different from the value for customs purposes. That value is the value I've added while the watch is out of the country of the owner and with me being repaired, so that is the value for customs purposes when I send a repaired watch back. It's not there so you can declare a zero value to avoid customs, but for legitimate instances where the insured and declared values are different.

Note that no matter what the value is stated for insurance or for customs the shipping label will have a value of zero on it. It is only the commercial invoice (that is inside the pouch provided mostly) where the value for customs will be noted. It was never parcel pro's intent that the government of the country the watch is being shipped to would never know the value of the item, because that is obviously needed for the shipment to clear customs. They use a zero value on the label to avoid obvious and easy targeting of high value items by those involved in shipping.

Hope this helps explain how the system works a bit better. Of course I don't condone avoiding what is due on a package you are receiving...

Cheers, Al
