Everything looks fine here to me.
I have seen those slight misalignments on other Zenith original dials from the same era.

Thanks that’s very reassuring and I agree those minor misalignments do appear on other Zeniths - I guess one shouldn’t view other brands through Omega lenses!!

Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum, so before boring you with my questions, let me introduce myself here briefly. I am Swiss (French-speaking part). I am 34 years old and have been passionate about watches for around fifteen years.

I would like to dig up this thread to ask for your help, as I have not found answers to these questions despite my research.

I recently bought a Zenith chrono equipped with the original Martel 146D. The watch seems to me to be rather clean. The dial has no mark (except two or three micro marks in the seconds counter). The case has, in my opinion, not been polished or not very polished. we can still clearly see the chamfers of the lugs. The hands seem to match.

However, I have a doubt about the crown. I have a crown with the logo with "Nato star" and not with the Z in the star. according to Manfred ROSSLER's book, Zenith would have introduced the crown with the nato in 1965. The GH171 could therefore theoretically have been equipped with both types of crowns. I have seen many of these watches with both types of crowns. A majority, however, seems to have the crown with the z logo in the star. In short, I find nothing convincing. Do you have any clues?
if the original crown is the one with the star and the Z what would be the diameter of the crown and the dimensions of the tube? Any good adress to source it?

second question: what was the original bucke? the one with the star and the Z or the one with the simple writing ZENITH?

Thanks for reading me.

Beautiful piece. Crown can go either way. I prefer the Z. Get an extract for the manufacture info

thanks for your answer. Yes I think I am going to ask for an extract from the archives but I’am not sure that they are going to give me some unknown informations. As far as I know, the extract just indicate the years of production, the model and caliber references .To know, if the piece is 100% matching you have to ask for a certificate, but the price for this document is CHF 450.-. Regarding the price of the watch, it seems disproportionate.
