Thanks, yeah I saw that. I guess I am old school in the fact that I don't care to send my CC info to an email address (Not that my info is safe anywhere nowadays...) Ill try the boutique.

You do realize your CC company protects you from fraud right?

Wow, literally just received the Archive today (Apr 15) after having ordered it around Christmas. An interesting aspect is that it was signed 1Mar2019, so it took another six weeks to make it from the President's desk to my door. Must have been mailed across the Atlantic via an actual hippocampus!! 😉

Ha, mine was in the same batch. Arrived today, took nearly 3 months (ordered 2/1/19). I think they sign these on a regular schedule so they are done in batches...which would explain why some arrive fast and others slow. Depends on the signing date and if yours just missed the last one, or arrived just prior.
and no more wax seals 😀

Oh no.. I happened to read this thread and now I am wondering if I need to re-order all the stuff that was refused. Maybe it was refused because I included the case ref???

But when they refuse, do they say it's because the case does not match, or do they say it's because there is not enough information/missing records?

If it was refused, adding or deleting information from the request will not help you. It sounds like the watch is not legit or it was put together.

This is exactly why you should supply all the requested information. Why would you want to pay $150 to get an extract that doesn’t match your watch?

What did they tell you when they refused?

I’ve only had one extract not completed and they stated that the records for my watch were not available in the archives so they were not able to supply an extract. They even offered to do the next extract for free because of the long wait to determine this. If they “refused” yours with no explanation I would assume that’s not good news.

A) You supply Serial and Watch Reference (i.e. Serial 25443810 AND Reference 145.012) If the Movement with the supplied serial was for example NOT delivered in a 145.012 but a 105.012, you don't get an extract but a Mail saying "there is not enough information/missing records"
You don't get more but your Money back. Fair enough

B) You supply only the Serial 25443810 but NO Reference. In this case you would receive en extract stating what Reference this Movement was delivered in/assembled to: a 105.012. This way you get to know at least - in case it's not matching the Reference/Serial combination of your watch - in what Reference the movement was initially delivered with. Cost: 110 SFR.

You can choose..

You will never get an extract stating the serial belongs to a 145.012 only because you supplied what you hold in your hands.

No they in all three cases said the standard "Due to the nature of vintage archives in certain cases information has not survived...your movement falls in that category....so we'll refund you...etc" so I'm guessing it was refused due to lack of records. It's not that they cancelled with no explanation.

And no.. I didn't pay the money thinking my watch was a franken. I supplied the case info as I believed they were. So I believed them when they said there was no information, and it seems to be quite common for the ranges I requested (19 million and 20 million). I just happened to read this thread and thought that maybe the cancel message they give is the same as if the serial is different from the case ref, in which case I might possibly have a franken.

This does seem to be what I did learn from the thread. I think I'll now try option B. 👍 The difference from before is that I didn't know what I was doing was option A, I thought their case ref field was more of "what's your best guess?" kind of thing. Now I know what I should be doing was B all along!

If you want to get to know this is the best option, not necessarily what you want to hear, but it tells you what it is..or not 😀

Yup - I do want to know what the movement was really born as. The first time I ordered, I was prepared to get a nasty news saying it's a seamaster or whatever, but was refused. Now I need to retry all my requests and see. 😁

You might though get an Extract stating it was from a Seamaster if it was.

I guess I should be prepared for the truth, if it's the case! Suddenly the omega lack of records message after only submitting serial is looking to be a good thing 😁

But out of the two I want to inquire if both of them come back as no information after I only submit the serial again, one I have doubts of and one I don't really. So I guess this is why people place importance on provenance. After the extract fails and the parts identification game is done, that's only thing left.

Nice reading, thanks @Robert-Jan

Perhaps a little bit unusual question .. 😀
What is a scope of Omega Museum? I mean, obviously they do have the olderst serial numbers but what are the latest serial number which will be granted with EOA?
Would Omega issue the extract for 13 year old watch?

Extracts are only available for watches produced before 2000, as per now. Hence no, they wouldn’t.

I only include movement number in my extract requests and have always got an extract. I like to do this so I get confirmation that the moment left the factory in that reference case. Just sent another request for my latest 14777 👍

Ahhh, there's my birth year Omega in your hands.
