I counted from one of the pictures in the first post and came to 24.
Perhaps Simon was having an off day when he appraised the watch. I’ll go with consensus here that it’s 24 tooth then!

So that being sorted 😗. How about the dust cover......or am I being a bit over the top in trying to fit the correct one?

I wouldn't lose sleep over the dust cover, it's a 'nice to have' but isn't something that I would obsess over or stop me from wearing it. But obsessions come in all strengths.

The dust cover on a Moonwatch doesn't just keep out dust, it actually keeps the movement located since there are no case clamps, the movement, which is surprisingly small at 27mm dia, sits in a holder ring which is held in place by the pressure from the dust cover. The dimple/nipple on the 'dust cover' presses on the middle of the caseback. Or so is my understanding.

Get a dust cover, any will do, even a modern service part is better than none.

My understanding is that there is one, but a service replacement. "...only non original parts are dust cover..."

Understood. I wouldn't worry about it too much personally, its not visible in use and a buyer who craves originality is going to worry more about the dial, bezel, crown etc etc. Its very far down the list of priorities IMO.

Thanks for the input and link to the covers for sale. Yes it does have a service replacement fitted so all good in that sense, I think I will stop obsessing over it for now and just get the watch back from Simon. This is my first vintage watch but I collect various other things, furniture, photography etc, and always strive to find originality, I can’t help it!
I would definitely like to improve the DON bezel but I think this can wait until another time.

Good evening,

Another plea for information! I have read a few other threads regarding boxes and I’m aware it won’t add any real value but I am trying to find correct period box for my watch. It seems that many different boxes are potentially right depending on country of delivery and sale etc. Does this one fit the bill for my Ed White?

thanks in advance.

I tried to, but I couldn‘t find a lot of information about this topic either but this post has been very helpful for my understanding: https://omegaforums.net/threads/vintage-speedy-boxes-and-papers.107414/#post-1408829
that being said, the box in the ebay listing is the type of box I saw most often in combination with Speedies from the 60s, so I‘m pretty sure some Ed Whites were sold in combination with this kind of box. Hope I could help you out a little!

Great Find and I second what a lot of gents have mentioned here "Bargain of the century" I'm all caught up with the entire post 😀 and now just waiting on pics from the inside. I'm sure I'm not the only one 🍿

Just collected the watch a few hours ago, Simon is a lovely guy and I really appreciate the members of the forum recommending him, he’s done a wonderful job. I asked him to take a photo of the movement as my iPhone camera skills are dubious at best! In regards to the crown it was a misunderstanding on my part, Simon told me at first appraisal it was incorrect so I pressured 32 tooth but he meant it is a 24 tooth but slightly wrong diameter! So that clears that up.
He also sourced a top top quality DON bezel which we placed over the watch to look at, it looked amazing but I couldn’t stretch to the asking price for it. I would still love to fit an improved bezel so don’t be shy message me if you have one available.

I’ll be looking for a nice daily wearer soon, this watch is too nice to use as a beater so it’s going to have to go. I don’t believe in hiding items away in a safe! If anyone has a modern speedy they are selling please message me
Thanks
Cal.
