The term "NOS" means "New Old Stock" and there's nothing old about these parts. These are brand new, recently manufacture service parts from Omega. The "NOS" crap all started with Watchco claiming they had all these "old" service cases, when all they were doing is buying brand new, recently manufactured, parts from Omega. These are not old, therefore are not NOS watches or parts.

With that out of the way, let's look at the case designs...here is a case that was manufactured in 2016 from what I recall on the package:

Greetings Al,

First, let me thank you, and others, for clearing up the NOS vs Replacement. I know the difference and didn’t mean to muck up this thread by crossing up their meaning or importance to the original question.

Thank you for posting those! That font is the same font on my bezel and the straight crown guards are the same as mine as well. Moreover, the “A” is pointed! So, based on your photos and comparing them with mine, I would say my watch has genuine Omega service parts installed.

In your opinion, which I greatly respect sir, based on the photos I posted above and comparing them to the newer case you photographed, would you agree with me and say you think my watch is legitimate?

Again, I know it’s just an opinion and I would never hold it against you if it was wrong but your opinion would mean a great deal to me and would likely allow me to comfortably keep the watch. Please let me know, sir.

Note the shape of the cut out at the crown guards:

The "A" in waterproof is flat on top:

These are images I've just taken of a case I purchased right from Omega recently. This case was made in the 25th week of 2019, so just a few months ago. You can see the date code on the package:

Front shot:

Note the cut out is very different for the crown guards:

And the case back has a pointed "A" in waterproof:

Again, both of these cases were purchased directly from Omega, so there is no doubt regarding their authenticity. I do admit that last year when the photos of the different cut out for the crown guard were first posted, I was skeptical that it was an original Omega case, as there are fakes out there. But having ordered one right from Omega, I am satisfied this is now a change that the cases have gone through.

Cheers, Al

Congratulations in getting getting a nice restored Omega 300
There’s no restoration going on here since there is nothing original to restore. Unless you count the movement maybe, and that was likely from something else.

I know this thread is 10 months old, but reading it through- I hope the OP has reached out to the seller and let them know about the production changes (perhaps point them to this thread), so they can educate any future customers who may think they are getting a “fake”.

I think the question should be where was that produced? China, Thailand, India?

I do t get it. Wherever the parts are from if it’s not made by Omega it’s a franken, a fake.

if I build a Mercedes with genuine parts it’s not a Mercedes. It may be better, it may be worse.... but it’s not a Mercedes just because it has the parts.

so.... for 1 or 2 g’s max.... maybe. It does not actually cost more than a few hundred to make. But for 4g I rather just spend the money and get the original whenever I can get my hands on it. They’re still around and definitely will be reissued once the movie comes out.

As to why would the charge so much for so little and so forth? Not because it’s justified by the manufacturing but because people buy it.

it’s not better because it’s more expensive.... if you think that is so please PM me. I have a few great watches I want to sell 😗

Reading between the lines I think Noble is saying that the watchco style sm300 is not an ‘authentic’ Omega. It is only worth the sum of its parts.
I can’t disagree but still think it has its place and is a fun watch.

Should have expanded more on my previous post I guess. If we were to apply the cars analogy there are a lot of recorded examples with cars built at a later stage from NOS or even reproductions parts that have been allowed to race in historic events following approval from the governing body.
Indeed they might not be worth the same in an auction but they are recognised as “originals” and hence they have a value. This is also reflected in the watchco to vintage comparison, the vintage 300s command higher prices than watchcos...
