Hello all!

This is my first post to the forum but I assume the millionth of its' kind.

I am beginning the search for a vintage Omega dress watch. Models from the 50's and 60's seem most appealing to me. I am a complete newbie, but I came across this Seamaster De Ville that I thought looked like a decent example.

I'd like to see some of your thoughts on it. Condition, originality and what sort of price you would expect to pay for it. Also thoughts on the C.601 in general. I was originally considering something in the 560 series, as I have heard many good things.

I'll also upload the pictures here, would love to get more opinions even if the watch is sold.
Thank you in advance!

Amongst the established members, and many newer ones I am sure, there is an ethic of honour amongst thieves. But, posting the link may get your watch scooped by less awesome readers of a thread. Just sayin.

Welcome to OF!

The price is quite high. I’d recommend keeping an eye on listings in the sales sections on OF - here’s a similar example that recently sold for approximately half the price of the piece you found:

I figured the price was quite high. But I'm probably quite some time away from pulling the trigger on a watch. Main thing right now for me is trying my ability to find some genuine pieces in good condition.

I'll be sure to keep an eye out for pieces on the forum. Thanks for the assistance!

I'm sure there are people who scan threads for ebay posts. And if I found one for a steal I'd probably not share. But this one seemed quite pricey for what you get so I was happy for people to look at the seller description and what not. I'm still very green and happy to wait for the right piece. Thanks for the assistance!

It's rare, and a known variation of those markers.
