Agree that everyone should have one. Here are a few pictures of mine. I love it. It's so thin and comfy to wear. The best looking SMP IMO. The bezel is pretty close to useless though..

Because it's hard to turn?

I have seen that Mod and kinda like it. Gives it a unique look. By the way, here's my dreaded non A/C dial.馃憤

Meant no offense about the AC dial...and should have said 'IMHO'. For me, one of my favorite things about the 2254 dial was the painted markers and logos. Similar to the matte-dialed Submariners.

we could say it has the same utility as all other bezels on other watch models .. or are you saying there's some unique "uselessness" on the 2254's bezel?
I'm no bezel expert, but compared to the two other divers I own (116600 & SKX007) it's very hard to turn. I can imagine that it's close to impossible to operate with diving gloves on. Luckily I mostly use it for desk diving.

I suspect there is something wrong with yours. I just pulled mine out of the box to see if Im missing somthing - nope, the bezel on mine rotates smoothly, with minimun effort and without any problems. The bezel has worked this way since I bought it new almost ten years ago...and it has never been serviced. I鈥檒l keep it on my wrist for the rest of the day...

+1 on the smoothness of the bezel. Effortless i鈥榙 Say.

BTW the electric blue (2255) is also a very nice variant! And I see them trading lower than the standard 2254. a lot of bang for the buck.

The bezel on the Seamaster 300 Pros is not very well designed - try turning the bezel with diving gloves on, or even with wet fingers. The scalloped design is good looking, but not particularly well though out from a user perspective.

No offense taken. I was just ribbing ya. As I said in an earlier post, when i bought the watch, it came with the extra non A/C dial and PO hand. So, I said what the hell and had my watchmaker swap them out.

Exactly this. It has no problem turning once you figure out how to get a good grip on it.

The coin-edge bezel design is easy to grip and turn since its a raised design, which also adds overall thickness to the watch.
The scalloped bezel of the SMP requires that you press down to get a good grip and you must continue pressing down as you turn, a tiny bit more work, but it yields a much flatter physical profile.
The Rolex notched design (GMT, Sub, YM etc.) is kind of in between, turning requires the slightest of down pressure.

Let's just say that a lot of Indians agree that the arrow is crooked 馃榿

Which is one of the main reasons it's such a shame that the design was altered on first the models with ceramic bezel inlays and then on the newest. Taller profile, but still usability issues. I really like the original a lot more than the latest two iterations.

Let me clarify.. The bezel is very hard to turn COMPARED to other proper divers, e.g. a modern sub or a SD. There's nothing wrong with my bezel, as I have compared it to other 2254's. They're all the same. Don't misunderstand me. They're not impossible to operate, and it's no big issue for a desk diver like me, but it has usability issues like @ConElPueblo points out, and would definitely not work very well with dive gloves or with cold wet fingers - as a proper diver should.

Since OF doesn't work without pictures I'll throw in another one of my beloved SMP.

Then let me suggest one gadget to strengthen your fingers that might help overcome the difficulty you are experiencing..... 馃槣

BTW, nice pic

The "special" function of the bezel is known. I will not use this watch at my watersports. I like to use it as a nice desk diving watch 馃榾 For watersports i allways use my cheap Invicta diver with its perfect working bezel....

I am not a diver but windsurfer. I tend to forget about time on the water and therefore use the bezel for sun protection. Of course, the watch gets wet and gets bumps, I would not want to do that to an old Omega.

A lot of complaints about the bond era seamaster bezels being difficult to grip. Small price to pay with such a low profile watch.
