·Last week I came across what appeared to be a SMP 2254.50 on the common Seamaster Professional multi-link bracelet, advertised by an auction house as an "Omega Seamaster Ref. 168 1640, Calibre 1120" that caught my eye. I linked the liveauctioneers site for anyone who may want to see the listing and photos. I've been thinking about finding a 2254.50, or as it's also known the "Peter Blake", for some as it might be one of the only modern Omegas that has caught my eye. I kept coming back to them so when this one popped up on auction I was immediately interested.
At first I thought it was a 2254.50 with a swapped bracelet, but after reading @dsio's helpful article, I learned that the reference 2054.50 came with these multilink bracelets. With a confirmation from @padders that there was no difference between the 2254.50 & 2054.50 other than the bracelet, and the only for sure way to know would be original paperwork or an Extract from the Archives, I decided to do a bit more due diligence. After a bit more research, and detailed review of the listing photos I felt comfortable to post a bid. I kept my eye on the auction and when the lot came up I put in my bid. Initially, during the bidding I thought lost out to a higher bidder but they must have retracted their bid (not the most comforting feeling mind you), because when the lot closed I was informed that my bid won. I was pretty glad as I felt this was somewhat of a bargain price to purchase one of these references.
The watch arrived today running and I believe it to be genuine, serial numbers on case and movement match, dial design and font match other examples I’ve seen here on OF; but I'm not an expert in these examples, so any of you that are please let me know your thoughts.
So I bring it to you OF, how'd I do and what do you think of the watch?
