Last week I came across what appeared to be a SMP 2254.50 on the common Seamaster Professional multi-link bracelet, advertised by an auction house as an "Omega Seamaster Ref. 168 1640, Calibre 1120" that caught my eye. I linked the liveauctioneers site for anyone who may want to see the listing and photos. I've been thinking about finding a 2254.50, or as it's also known the "Peter Blake", for some as it might be one of the only modern Omegas that has caught my eye. I kept coming back to them so when this one popped up on auction I was immediately interested.

At first I thought it was a 2254.50 with a swapped bracelet, but after reading @dsio's helpful article, I learned that the reference 2054.50 came with these multilink bracelets. With a confirmation from @padders that there was no difference between the 2254.50 & 2054.50 other than the bracelet, and the only for sure way to know would be original paperwork or an Extract from the Archives, I decided to do a bit more due diligence. After a bit more research, and detailed review of the listing photos I felt comfortable to post a bid. I kept my eye on the auction and when the lot came up I put in my bid. Initially, during the bidding I thought lost out to a higher bidder but they must have retracted their bid (not the most comforting feeling mind you), because when the lot closed I was informed that my bid won. I was pretty glad as I felt this was somewhat of a bargain price to purchase one of these references.

The watch arrived today running and I believe it to be genuine, serial numbers on case and movement match, dial design and font match other examples I’ve seen here on OF; but I'm not an expert in these examples, so any of you that are please let me know your thoughts.

So I bring it to you OF, how'd I do and what do you think of the watch?

My Seamaster 2254.50 says " Hi, seamaster with the weird bracelet" ," U look good in rubber too!"

nice watch, I'm looking to get a SMP 2254.50 too. Congrats!
Seems legit to me and also in a quite good condition.
If I may know, even privately if you prefer, how much did you pay for it?
I see there is a wide price range for that reference and would like to know what a fair price would be.

Looks all correct and a nice piece, they’re a lot less common than the regular bracelet but just as good if you like the design

Oh I don’t mind sharing, as I think the info will help any other future buys and I also linked the auction listing above that shows the result. Auction ended at 1800 CAD with a 22% buyers premium, for a total of 2196 CAD. IIRC the exchange rate brought my total to just over $1600 USD. So I would say this price is probably below to well-below the current average I see these sell for on eBay or other platforms.

Thanks, appreciate the confirmation of it looking all correct!

One question I did have for other owners of these references, is the bezel action quite loose on these? There’s a bit more play on it than I’d expect which make me believe it needs a new bezel spring(I think it’s call that). It may just be a service to the bezel and new part as needed but figured I’d ask.

Nice series of pictures. I wish I had the capability to take them as consistently as you.

The bezel on mine is very robust feeling (tight-ish).

Wow, seems a very good price! The price range in Europe is on average double by my experience...

Appreciate that but I bet you could as well! Just used a piece of white printer paper as a background, natural light from the window next to my desk and my iPhone.

The bezel on mine is very robust feeling (tight-ish).
Thanks for confirming that I have a feeling the click spring will need replacement.

I think I lucked out and won the auction well below the usual market price for these. The bracelet it’s in probably helped keeping it under the radar. Plus the auction was mostly lots of jewelry so might not have been many watch bidders.

That's definitely a very good price. These normally go for around $2,200-$2,500.
