Seamaster 2254.50 Servicing

Hey Guys,

This is my first post here!

Sent my 2254.50 for servicing, it was losing time, had a short power reserve and the date disc wasn’t changing over fully.

However, there was an issue with my bezel. I noticed that at the top of the bezel, between 45 and 60 min mark I guess, there was a very small gap compared to 30min mark. When pressed down the bezel would click and pop quite audibly. This got significantly worse after I got the click spring changed last year. I suspect the bezel might be bent and will require a new one. Has anyone experienced anything similar on there 2254/2531?

I’ve tried to attach a video to be more specific. Hopefully someone can offer a bit of insight!

Thanks!

A

I've bent a bezel on a GSAR. Sure it happens. Often when it's improperly removed or it's smacked hard enough on an appropriately hard surface. It can be replaced during service at cost.

I have had the same on my 2254 fot years, but checking it no, its gone! Either my bezel staightened by it self or its full of gunk.

Anyways nothing bad happened to my bezel when it was like yours, it didn`t fall of or anything like that, but it sure was annoying.

I’m really happy to hear someone else had the same issue. I thought I was going crazy honestly.

Hopefully when Omega take a look at it, they can either fix it or just quote me for a new bezel. I had a 2531.80 serviced last year and they changed the bezel complimentary.

Hey Adam, I'm new here as well and I've got a 2254 inbound and I am planning to send it directly in for servicing. Do you know if Omega is going to refinish/polish your bracelet. I know they do with the case and I've heard they give you the option to trade the bracelet in, but I'm not interested in that. Just wondering if they will spiff the bracelet up too. (I know this isn't related to your question, just thought you might know.)

@Adam3861 Who did the servicing? If it was Omega then it should be their problem. If not it’s yours and you are looking at a new bezel. There is an existing policy to offer a free bezel swap on the 2531.80 due to fading but there is AFAIK no such policy for the 2254.50 you should expect a bill for a swap. It’s annoying, the bezels do bend if removed improperly.

My local AD did the servicing. They are an Omega Certified Service Centre and said they could have it returned to me within 4 weeks. Stated it would be the exact same level as Omega but I have had nothing but issues with it since getting it back on wrist. When I showed them the issue with the bezel after they had changed the click spring they advised it “was within tolerance”.

That makes sense about the 2531.80. I don’t mind paying for a new one plus the additional servicing cost with Omega. Just hope they can resolve the issue, the 2254.50 is my favourite watch and I’m struggling to enjoy it because of the annoying clicking and popping.
