The 1948 is a deserved tribute to an absolute icon - but so sad about the mess on the back, have to pass. (Is Omega quaking at my silent protest?)

I’m going to email in and ask if Omega would be able to replace the case back with a matching clear one in a future service.

Please let us know what they say. That horrible case back is one of the main reasons I have not pulled the trigger on one of these.

I don’t think they will. Omega do not condone modifications. In fact, if a modified watch is sent into Omega for a service they will generally replace modified parts for original parts, if they are still available.

Same here. But I think too chances are very small they will...

Fortunately, I was able to get past this ‘slip’ in judgement:

I don’t look at the caseback that often once it’s on my wrist!

Nice to get a bit of coverage for the 1948 on the Watchfinder channel. I put in the comments on their YouTube channel a while ago it might be a good watch for them to cover... He’s right on the case back...

I love it. Omega is really knocking it out of the park with these vintage reissues these last few years.

Here’s what I sent.... hey even if the answer is “no” Omega got some feedback... given the price of the watch why can’t I have a clear caseback?

I had some holiday distractions so only got to sending the note yesterday.

Hi, I am very interested in the Omega 1948. However, I am not a fan of the engraved boat and airplane on the caseback.

Will Omega sell me a clear caseback? Or can I send the watch in for servicing and have it replaced with a clear caseback?

Worse case please let me know if I can buy the clear caseback from a direct supplier or aftermarket?

Besides myself, many fans on various forums and social media have noted the engraving as a reason to not buy this stunning watch - so would Omega consider another edition without or perhaps personalized engraving?

So I got around to finding an Omega Cordura strap with deployment clasp as the ones it came with are too small for me and the grey NATO has a steel bit that digs into my wrist. They make a 19mm one for the a Speedmaster that is a perfect fit apart from the spring bar hole being a little too far away, but this was easily fixed by drilling it out a bit. Anyway I’m very happy with it and i think it suits the watch.

Hey guys. I’ve been lusting over the center second model for a while now. I’ve been hesitant to pull the trigger on one pre-owned as I am afraid it will be too small. I’m 6’5...300lbs with a fairly small wrist for a big guy at 7.25in. Will this model be too small for me. All of my watches are 40-42 (Sub 116610, Speedy MOTM, new Seamaster 300m, and Breitling 806 re-issue. I wear a Hamilton Khaki 38mm field watch to work and I think it fits fine. Just looking for some feedback. I understand the “buy what you love” but it’s not a question of love, I love it, but can I wear it, and will I want to keep it in my collection forever. Thanks in advance as I can see this thread is a little stagnant., but I just saw the picture posted today so I figured I would try.

Of course you can wear it, you can wear anything you want if YOU think it looks good on your wrist. This watch on a 7.25" wrist will be fine (your height & weight would seem to be in proportion).

I wish I could find an AD that has one. My AD couldn’t get one in as I was late to the game. Unfortunately my way of getting one now is pre-owned.

Found this beauty in the OB in Dubai and i have to say i'm super pleased with it. wears like a dress watch with a suit and then at the weekends looks very at home with the Nato strap. Got a great discount too, although i wish we weren't in such a time of crisis that has enabled that for sure.
