New Speedmaster find in the wild... curious of thoughts?

Hmm I am now willing to be a little more charitable and admit that I maybe jumped to the wrong conclusion but I am still a bit perplexed about where you got the jump to -69 from. That aside, edit your listings and move forward. You do have a desirable thing but you need to be careful you are fully honest and acuurate.
I appreciate the benefit of the doubt... I am fixing the listing.

I am withholding judgment bit I will say this: speedmaster minutiae like caseback models and dots over 90s seem obvious to OF watch nerds but would be considered minor confusing points to normal people. Perhaps a 2nd chance could be granted?
I appreciate it. I am fixing my listing.

And I don't care about making huge profit on an insta-flip. LOTS of us have done similar and since you bought from a pawn shop who should know better (and not screwing over an elderly gentleman who isn't online) I think anyone who is pissed is just reacting out of envy more than righteous indignation.

To add to my last defense, I am taking down my post, relisting with the proper designations and say that I would appreciate the chance to earn trust and engage here in the future. It actually comforts me knowing that you guys were jumping on this to alert potential buyers of a discrepancy and keep it honest. This gives me great peace of mind when I go to make another purchase, I have a community watching MY back. Thank you.

I think you should have done more research before making an advert, I would never make an advert of watch I have had for 24 hours, you don't know its power reserve, how well it runs in multiple positions etc I would be too worried that buyer will find some hidden flaws I have not discovered. You asked for knowledge here and it was given to you because everyone is super into watches and everyone is super helpful and wishing when someone scores a nice deal somewhere in the wild. I guess your biggest mistake was that you rushed too much without doing necessary homework beforehand, otherwise this wouldn't have ruffled feathers.

Duly noted. Thank you for the second chance.

Understood. I had the watch for about 3 days and it's kept great time. I don't own a timeographer but perhaps I should invest in one. I'm looking at it today and it's the right time and I set it yesterday after I pictured the movements and put the case back on. I also tested the chronograph to make sure all the subdials work as they should which they do. The chrono hand quickly snaps back to 0. It works as good as any newer mechanical I've owned.

Don't need timegrapher, just measure time difference against reference time. I mean timegrapher would be great of course, I need to buy one too 😀

So to be clear, when relisting, I should say it's a 145.022-ST with a transitional stepped dial from a 145.022-69ST? and a service bezel from the 90s?

Dial probably from 145.022-68 unless someone took earlier 321 dial and filed the dial legs down to fit on 861. Otherwise yes, its 145.022 from 80s.

There are tiny details with Speedmasters and not crazy that OP, a newbie in this arena, made a mistake. Mistakes happen. Give the guy a break...

This is classic for an OP to be asleep (it was 12:30est last time he posted here) and then wake up to have been crucified three times over. I do not question his intentions. He found a watch that you didn't even want in the first place which presented an opportunity to sell and get what he really wanted - a broad arrow Speedmaster - like he mentioned in his original post. I did not assume you wanted to correct this watch. It was pretty clear you want to sell it. That is fine.

Now I feel like I need a shower.

Good luck with your sale, wherever it is. Post pictures of the Broad Arrow if/when you get it.

To the OP, I am glad you came back here to correct us on this...

But, I will say that being negligent and being deceitful both end up exactly the same for a buyer. When you choose to sell something, you are taking that responsibility and should do everything possible to make sure that you are clear in your understanding, and you description of what you sell. However, I can understand that you are new to this and made a mistake. I won't apologize for jumping to the conclusion that we did, because it's necessary to quickly do what we can to protect the hobby and the people that might quickly be jumping on the opportunity to buy. I'm sure that you can understand that those of us who have been around on this forum daily for years (only a year in my case) have seen so many of these shady characters come in and do exactly what we perceived you were doing. So, you were at the receiving end of years worth of distrust bred by the countless sheisters who have made their way through here. For that, I can say that I am sorry you found your way into that position.

As to what you have and how to describe it, I strongly suggest you take the adverts down entirely and wait until you receive Moonwatch Only and read it. It won't be a long wait, and by the time you're done reading it you will have all of the info you need to write the advert, plus you will then know so much more about the watches and what you might want in a watch. You may change your mind entirely about what you want after reading that book. I know I did. Cheers and glad to have that clarified. Hope to see you around here more.
