Omega Constellation dog leg, pie pan with arrowhead markers: my new incoming and research

The omega constellation with the “dog-leg" lugged case can be the reference 14900, 14902 or 14902/3, 167.005 and 168.005.

This thread I will mainly focus on the “non-date” model, which is 14900 and 167.005.

Most of early dogleg with non-date (ref.14900) often originally have the missing text dials. By the way, late model of the ref.14900 will have “officially certified”.
My research (from at least 10 watches with that configuration) found that the cut point might be approximately 18.8 million when omega decide to add “officially certified” again.

Such as this earliest example from @th0m, according to the archive extract.
Photos courtesy of Thom (@th0m) for sending me the movement and extract pictures.

If anyone owned ref.14900 with “officially certified” but the movement number below my research, please post it here.

Next question might be, when will omega transition from 14900 to 167.005?

Normally, we used to the term approximately late 1963?

Now I could find very late 14900-62 with the movement number was 19,991,070.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2256755259...-53200-19255-0&campid=5338788128&toolid=10001

Furthermore, I will present one watch that might be the earliest example of reference 167.005 too with the movement number as low as 19,991,323. This watch was produced on 2 April 1964 as shown by “Extract from the Archives “. It was sold in the forum since 2015
https://omegaforums.net/threads/vin...an-dial-exceptional-condition-serviced.31031/

Please note that the difference in movement number was only “253”

So, my assumption would be the transition from 14900 to 167.005 might be in late March 1964 with the serial number in the range of 19,999,xxx.
However, it might be some overlapping in the movement number between 14900 and 167.005.

Again, If anyone owned ref. 14900 with movement number higher than 19,991,070 or ref.167.005 but the movement number below 19,991,323 please post it here.

I found another an extract (movement number 20,311,131) confirmed that ref.167.005 produced with serial number quite low as 20.3 million. https://shop.hodinkee.com/products/19x0s-omega-constellation-ref-xxxx?variant=32945229168715
Many people believe that “the last” dogleg pie pan constellation with arrowhead markers needed to be ref.14900 (or 14902).

But my research found 2 examples of 168.005 and one of 167.005 (sold in the forum since 2015).

Today I would like to share one example in my collection which is very uncommon dogleg pie pan with arrowhead markers in the steel case.

In my honest opinion,
Dial: Original silver pie pan dial (non-refinished) plus the arrowhead markers in nice condition.
Case: Original 34.5mm 167.005 steel case in overall acceptable condition for its age. The facets and beveled edge can be seen. However, it’s possible that the case has been polished at some stage in their life.
Crown: Correct vintage thin decagonal crown in very good shape.
Crystal: Original signed crystal (thin omega logo in center).
Caseback: Original 167.005 caseback with inside caseback is stamped “SGR”.
Movement: Original cleaned automatic caliber 551 movement with 24 jewels. Movement number is 20,911,20x that should be produced in late 1964 or early 1965.

More closeup photos:😁

If I owned the very uncommon watch, I prefer to see the backside of the dial to prove it’s legit.

Please note that the correct dial for the dogleg case will have the elevated rim of dial (the yellow arrows) and two dial legs (the red arrows).

An example of this rim by very nice example by @hoipolloi (depicted by yellow arrows).

Finally, my wrist shot

In conclusion, my movement number does not too low for ref.167.005 (at least confirmed by an extract of the 2 examples). I believe that 167.005 can originally come with combination at least one example by @X350 XJR . Interestingly, the difference in the movement number was less than 100 (mine was later).

I leave the question “can my watch be the latest example from omega, specifically piepan dial with arrowhead markers in the dogleg cases”?

Only way to confirm by requesting an Extract from the Archives ?
So sorry if I didn’t include your watch into my research, because of unknown the movement number.

Thanks you for your valuable feedback.

Best,

Teerapat

Great thread @qazwsx1 !
I have sold a Ref. 14900 cal. 551 serial no. 19017551, case 14900 SC-61. It has no "officially certified", and I know the buyer so can locate the watch if needed.

I still have a Ref. 14900 cal. 551 serial no. 19623890 case 14900 SC-61 but with "officially certified".

This is what OF should be all about 👍

I appreciate your feedback @theluckyluke , @Zman4eva , @DirtyDozen12 , @sliceoftime_ and @felsby .

@sliceoftime_ , still dibs on your all steel 2852 adding to my collection!!

@felsby , thanks for sharing the information with us.
If I understand it correctly, It confirmed the overlapping that omega still use the version without “officially certified” in early 19 million of movement number.
But, the first omega ref.14900 with “officially certified” still be 18,817,xxx.

Also 2852’s came without o. c. (Serial no. 16513409)

Today’s wrist shot.

Domed vs Pie-Pan 😁
Please note the difference in the thick and thin decagonal crown.

I just found an extract of very late production for the reference 14900 posted by @Sharp . https://omegaforums.net/threads/sup...ainless-steel-with-gold-hands-indices.166918/

The movement number is 19,990,931 with the production date on April 22, 1964.

Thanks @Sharp for sending me this movement picture.

My research found another 14900 with 139 higher in the movement number (as mention earlier in this thread).

However, @Sharp mentioned that he might owned another 14900 with the highest movement number as 19,991,093.

In conclusion, the transition from 14900 to 167.005 should be around April 1964.
