My new incoming watch. Can it be one of the earliest examples in ref. 14396 with the steel case?

    Hello all members.:):D

For the jumbo constellation, normally we can divide it into date and no date version.
The date version will be the reference 168.001, 14777 and 14395, while the no date version will be the ref. 14396 and 14778.

These pictures demonstrate just one example in each reference.

For anyone who are interested in jumbo constellation please visit this link: https://omegaforums.net/threads/sho...1-14777-14778-14395-and-14396-allowed.109416/

I will specifically discuss about omega reference 14396 in this thread.

My research would like to collect all available images from this forum, plus searching from google. However, I could find only 8 examples. Five of them used “shadow striped dial” pattern (or tapestry dial), while the others came with the different dial pattern. Nonetheless, I remembered that @Banner Roar mentioned somewhere that he found maybe 10 examples of ref. 14396, so I need to call him to share some information.

Today I would like to share my new incoming which is reference 14396-1 SC.

It was all steel case with the gold hands, hour-markers, omega symbol and medallion.
In my opinion, the dial was original two-tone dial with some imperfect spots near 3 o’clock hour-marker.
My quick search found that caliber 501 was used from 14,82x,xxx up to 15,8xx,xxx movement number.

By the way, I found this omega 14396 used the cal.501 with the low serial number too (14,887,xxx; mine was earlier around 4000).
This one also had the 19-jewel rotor too.

Duo of my jumbo 14396 and 14778:

Please note that the shape of hour-markers looks identical for both.
As I mentioned earlier, another jumbo no date version might be ref.14778, but no “officially certified” in both two examples of ref.14778 and ref.14778 will use caliber 551.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. ;)

Excellent post Teerapat, although I'm afraid I don't know the answer to any of your questions.

I have never started collecting these, but the more I see of them the more they intrigue me....I guess maybe I'm worried that if I buy one then all my 35mm Connie's won't feel the love anymore!

Another great find, Teerapat. Huge congrats. The combo of the golden hardware and the steel case is just stunning.
