Omega Certificate of Authenticity - How is it?

Hello all,

More than one year that Omega offers the CoA (not the Extract of the Archives) and I'm trying to see some example as there are docens of the Extract. I.e., some image how it looks, what they say exactly, etc... but I'm able to find through Google any image and in here neither.

Do you know if there is any image of this 800CHF (+taxes) certificate to understand how it looks like?

I don't have a photo of that, but I would be very interested to see the watch for which you are willing to spend 800CHF for the certificate. Would you be interested in sharing a photo?

I'm not thinking to certificate any watch now, I was more trying to know what is in it to understand what are exactly Omega certifying (beyond of the explanation I can find in the web), and I'm not able to see anyone in all internet, what is quite curious...

I suspect the reason for the statement above is somewhere in the question below. I'll give you a clue **800CHF + taxes **

It's not surprising to me. I doubt that too many people are sending their watches back to Omega and paying that amount for a certificate since the value of the CoA is unclear beyond that of an Extract combined with the general knowledge of collectors/dealers/auctioneers. Eventually you will probably see a few high-end watches show up at auction with certificates.

I though the same, but knowing how is the vintage market right now, someone could have been tented to obtain it to increase the price significantly (if the watch is really authentic, of course)

So it’s an extract with a bit of scholarly writing?
If you have a Franken, paying the extra $$ for a COA over an extract uses flowery writing to add value to your bitsa watch. The A Brandle watch (who? I hear you ask) sold for mega money, and yet wasn't remotely original.

As well as the extra few descriptive lines of text it looks like the 800CHF also gets you a hard backed binder and a legal disclaimer on the back page instead of taking up half of the certificate a la an Extract.

Well worth the money 😲

That's funny. So Omega could even refuse an Extract order without refund because of "2.5.1. Wrong watch movement number and/or watch case number;", but it's fine to issue CoA?

How "authentic" is that from collector's perspective?

Should "with exchanged movement" be now official term for "franken"? 😜

I'd definitely pay extra for that, just not that much. 😀

I did not find the Extract of the Archives worth it. This is even less, IMO.
