I'm sorry for the loss of the other watch and I'm very glad that Omega was willing to do the right thing.

Well done. Glad Omega got their act together. I can't believe initial person was refusing to let you pick any watch that should of been instant - of course sir!
You did read the entire thread correct? When and where was Omega out of line? The OP has a new watch now, and the timepiece was lost on transit through the courier.

Omega had to make sure that the old watch was really gone and also needed to get approval from mother ship in Bienne.

Good to see Omega do the right thing in this instance.

Nice outcoming. IMO Omega is a consumer driven company that wants happy costumers. I´ve been dealing with them for spare parts and the person on the other side of the phone has been super kind and got me everything I asked for.
Last week I sent my PO to the service center because the bezel was loose and they fixed it free of charge and they even payed for overnight shipping back and forth. I didn't had to pay a dime for the repair.

Best case scenario, they are going to find an old watch and send it back to it's original owner.....

Very glad Omega did the right thing. One really shouldn't expect anything less from such a company and even if it took a while to get there, the end result shows that perhaps the senior management know what they are doing after all. "Bis dat qui cito dat" but you can't always have everything.

Omega did do the right thing in the end. But their boutique salesperson needs customer relations training. He, and even his immediate boss, probably lacked authority to do anything more than give the inadequate store credit they originally offered without going to senior management and giving them a chance to review the situation. They should have simply told the OP the situation was under review, and they would do everything possible to do right by their valued customer -- him. I guess because I too recently lost my father, I'm sensitive to this kind of thing. And as a lawyer, I can tell you that a lot of litigation would be avoided if people thought more carefully before acting in these situations.
