It is beautiful. I too discount Movado b/c of those omnipresent diamond "Museum" watches. While I pine for a Zenith your watch is really good looking. I also found this version which is pretty and complicated:

I wear the TAG version of El Primero:

Would anyone please be able to shed light on the history and significance of the horse and chariot as shown in the catalogue dated 1949 below. Any other images of the chariot would be much appreciated.

So far, the year 2021 has been a busy one as we found out a few interesting things about space-flown wristwatches...
Now we have seen the actual space-flown Movado chronograph of Gerald "Jerry" Carr, we acknowledge that those amazing HS360 automatic chronographs with a blue dial can turn "chocolate" after 50 years... this has been confirmed by at least 2 other cases.
Remember, in both the 2008 books "Around the world in 84 days" (page 122) and “Homesteading Space: The Skylab Story” (page 342) NASA astronaut Colonel Gerald Carr described how he put his personal Movado automatic chronograph on his ankle underneath the spacesuit.
Soon more... 📖

Zenith used a similar image for a 1946 ad. Probably biblical in nature or referencing the quality of their products. BTW that catalogue is awesome

I fully agree with you. I own their watch from the 1960s and I like it very much. Thick gold case and classic design.

This must be the Greek god Helios and the chariot of the sun, which he drove across the heavens each day.

All I can say for the moment is to keep an eye open for the Hodinkee magazine N° 8 which will become available in 10 days time...
And never forget :
The most interesting wristwatches don't typically make it to Instagram or social media... but stay in families or among serious collectors !

One could argue that since Carr's Movado and Pogue's Seiko were both on the same flight and therefore were joint "first automatic chronograph in space" (unless we could somehow figure out who put their watch on their wrist first, making it the first auto chrono worn in space...), precedence could be given according to rank.

Carr was the Commander, Pogue was the Pilot of SL4. So Carr wins 😀

I'm really liking this on a Nodos strap. Just got back from a service, which means it's my daily 😀

Also flipped the day/night. Seems happier.

Also noticed these etchings between the lugs. Thought I'd share just to add to the collective knowledge. Plus if anyone knows more about what was normally etched, etc., please share.
