Updated, thinned down case specs. Looks really good!

Oh man, I had not seen that, but I think that reduced thickness in the manual case will make quite a difference.

Really starting to look promising! Would love to see some photos in the flesh 馃榾
All the examples I've seen them posting on social media seem to be from the pervious case design. I hope they'll have some examples of this thinner case before the pre-order goes live.

To be honest, I think that even if the company releases a virtually identical reissue of the original Chronomaster, when the modern version is priced at 1600 euros, most will probably choose to purchase a vintage original, which can usually be bought for around 2/3rds of the aforementioned asking price.

WHERE?!

Dang, that one has led a full life... A new crystal would allow one to see the dial (which looks nice), but the bezel is destroyed and the case is scratched to Heck and beyond. Not what I consider a nice example in the $1,100 USD range.

Looks like it's been run over by a truck. I mean one on good condtion with the broad arrow hand. I've not seen a one less than $2000.
The insert is faded but the dial is virtually perfect. Swap out the crystal and you've got a hell of a watch.
But hey, if you're looking for something brand new, then maybe vintage isn't for you.

I'd be happy with a new one, for sure, I just wish it said "Croton" on it, because I'm only interested because my parents bought each other Croton watches for their wedding, and I have my father's watch. (My next-older sister has my mother's.)

I'm perfectly happy with vintage that doesn't look beat to hell or costs thousands. It just turns out that a lot of the vintage I like the rest of the planet likes. If only I liked things that no one else did. 馃榿

I think that new Antarctic No Date with steel case, blue sweep hand and brown leather strap is sweet.....that is about only one I think I would consider.

I think $1600 for the new one is a great buy for a lot of people.

Majority of us on the forum are mature (agewise) and like certain brands for the history behind those watches and the era when they were pioneers in the industry. Additionally, something about those brands reminds us of the "good old days". I believe that is one of the big reasons why we go for the vintage option (me included) in "good or better condition" over a new one. Our other motivation, of course, is to have fun based on just the "hunt" for the watch.

The younger generation, however, may not be that interested in the history of the brand and just likes the looks of the watch and I believe will be likely to opt for a brand new $1,600 new watch over even a good or a great used one at the same price. Why would you buy a used car over a new one at the same price if you are only interested in looks and functionality?

We old geezers are a strange kind aren't we? ::facepalm1::::facepalm1::

Again, if I could find a used Croton-branded Chronomaster in near-new condition with broad-arrow hands for less than $2,000... I would buy it. But I haven't seen one yet.

I decided to give this release a try and pre-ordered the manual wind broad arrow version on the tropic strap. With the discount code, it came to $1435 shipped to the US and will come with a copy of the Chronomaster Only book.

Ouch, that is rough. It's closer to the Nivada only (not Croton) designs with the more simple dials and misses the mark on what makes the "classsic" Croton Antarctics so pleasing.

How about a relaunch of the Landeron 4750 Electric?

If you ever think about moving on one of those Antarctics .... I鈥檇 be interested.

For those interested in some unique history of the chronomaster, one was actually used in the 1965 US Navy SEALAB II program by Aquanaut William Tolbert. Prior to SEALAB he was an Oceanographer for the US Naval Mine Defense Lab, where many of the Aquanauts came from. You can see a white dialed Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster with the broad arrow on his wrist in this photo.

they did a good job with this. i don't think 1400-1600 is a bad price.

micros cost more, as well as a speedy reduced. this looks solid, imo

what is the promo code?

weren't they suppose to do the depthmaster pac man as well?

what is the promo code?

Promo code I used in July when they launched pre-orders was NIVADAISBACK for 15% off, but I don鈥檛 know if that offer is still available.
