Hello everyone. Just joined today and figured I'd introduce myself. Life long "watch guy" and lover of all things horological. Some of my favorite brands are Omega, Breitling, Hamilton, Eterna and vintage Bulova. And really, so many more. I look forward to spending time here. Here's a pic for the hell if it.

Welcome, nice watch.
Lots of people here love you favourite brands. If you shout @JwRosenthal you might get a Devil Diver pic. (Or Hamilton, Eterna etc etc etc!)

Welcome Rob! Although this is an “Omega-centric” forum, you will find it’s a very egalitarian community- we love all watches- except fake ones.

And yes- some of us take our Snorkel seriously.

Welcome to the forum Rob, you read the room well. We like pictures. That is a nice Seamaster you have there. Here is my 1940s dress Bulova. I feel extra fancy wearing it since the model name is His Excellency. I am a fan of old Hamilton's and Eterna's but don't own any.

Very fancy indeed!!
Hamilton will rock your world, you should keep an eye out. Their CLD series from the 50’s are awesome.
I have a love for their funkier late 60’s/early 70’s offerings

I'm in the "I hate Rolex" corner.....until the AD calls me and says my Explorer is here . 😉

Thanks for the welcome all, and great watches! I also really like vintage Hamilton. Not really sure why I don't have any. I guess the older Bulovas are just a tad bit more affordable, and until now they have satiated my vintage craving.

I REALLY love vintage Omega's, but I only have 1. I would have more, but again, they are a bit costly, then you have to factor in a service and whatnot. There are also so many variations it gets overwhelming browsing them. I have a Seamaster, best date guess I could get was between 1959-61. It opens through the crystal, which I am not comfortable doing, therefor I cannot access the movement to get a better idea of the date. I got it from the original owner's nephew....it has the OO's social security number hand engraved on the back

We need to see a pic of that. And if it’s a front loader it’s probably ‘61 on. The private sales section here is your playground- no fakes or frankens there and it’s member monitored so if anything shady pops up it gets called out quickly. You need 200 posts to post there but you can PM any seller.

And if you are waiting for a 36mm Explorer…paging @SC1

I don't wanna get jammed up on my first day posting in the wrong section, but here you go. It's the only one I've seen exactly like this (cross-hair dial, no date, 3/6/9), but like I said, the vintage Seamaster variants are seemingly endless.

That’s a nice watch. These are usually referred to as “pre-Deville, Deville”. The Deville Seamasters are front loaders but they didn’t have the Deville name on the dial for the first 1-2 years (‘61-62). They also had the older “hanger S” rather than the later curvy S (the S in Seamaster looks like a cost hanger- hence “hanger S”).
These also look great on the factory beads of rice (BOR) bracelet.

Will also add that as you have already discovered, there were many dial style variants.

Thanks for the info. I'd love to source a proper bracelet for it. Even a re-issue.

You’re not going to find reissues for them, but luckily the factory 7-row BOR’s are abundant and not incredibly expensive ($250-300). There are fake ones out there so it’s important to know what to look for on clasp stampings and endlink stamps Omega numbered their endlinks (like Rolex did) to mate to specific case styles (size/length/profile). So pretty much any factory 7-row BOR will work but you need to know which endlinks fit the lugs properly. There are factory published charts that show which case reference matches to which endlinks, so if you can find out the case reference (inside the back of the case of course), then you can look up which endlinks/bracelet are the correct match. Or hopefully someone here will know which endlinks fit these Deville cases.

I think I just realized, If there was one available cheap, dissembled and with rusted parts, I would probably want it.

Yeah, no shit- you are a glutton for punishment.
