Anyone else think they should have made the ceramic model smaller? Like a 42mm to match the normal speedy?

Yeah, we get that from a lot of people. I agree it’s too big.

I would highly consider one if it would fit my wrist. Especially an Apollo 8

It’s a weird thing that they seem to want to not use other materials in the 42mm size.

I actually hallucinated a blue dial titanium Speedmaster Pro existing in the era of the chocolate dial Sapphire Sandwich but no. They made the Solar Impulse GMT in titanium and based it on the 44.25mm Speedmaster Coaxial, they made a blue dial Cal 9300 Speedmaster Coaxial also in that larger size, and that is what I think I was confusing the Moonwatch with.

But there is no titanium 42mm Moonwatch, no ceramic 42mm Moonwatch, only steel or precious metal.

The closest is the Apollo 11 45th Anniversary, though even that was two tone with no bracelet.

I remember reading Chuck Maddox post about how good it would be to have a titanium normal Moonwatch like the 2298.80 he loved, it’s strange that all these years later it still hasn’t happened.

It sucks. Only thing I can think of is they don't want to spend the R&D bucks to come out with a 42 mm case.

Early ceramic cases needed to be made larger to maintain strength due to shrinkage issues.

I wonder if there have been any breakthroughs in manufacturing now.

There's been plenty, I'm sure. Even some cheaper Chinese fitness trackers use full ceramic cases now. Precise and durable.

I have an Apollo 8 and it fits fine, the dark ceramic case wears small, imo. Omega is making a conscious decision to not make a ceramic in the classic 42 mm size, or the 39.7 mm straight lug size, they want to keep the classic cases in steel or gold or steel/gold. I don't know how many ceramic cases they sell, but it must be sufficient to keep going.

Zenith has the Chronomaster Sport in 41mm and Defy in 42mm which are Blue ceramic.

I don't get the size or pricing really. In my mind, the closest competitor is the IWC Top Gun Ceramic, which at least in Australia, comes in at $10k less. It's also ceramic and 41mm.

10 years ago, when the original DSOTM came out, it was the same size 44mm and price as the IWC top gun at 44mm and around $13k AUD. It's disappointing that Omega hasn't downsized and has increased prices to a ridiculous point.

Its the sign of the times. Everything is getting expensive.
Even IWC is getting expensive a current top gun ceramic is about $20k AUD

Yeah its like the new meteorite moonphase at 30k. Id rather have the blue ceramic with aventurine dial and save 10%
I totally agree. Also at $30k, Omega is starting to compete with some pretty serious competition. That's entry level Vacheron territory and a VC overseas isn't that much more $$$.

That would be epic if they made a titanium version

I think the X33s don't get enough love! They are actual modern space watches, and have the most space time of any watch out there (including the OG speedmaster)!

My pref is the gen 2, but they all look nice.

Although I totally understand the point of your post, I wish they made more mechanical watches in titanium and ceramic.
