It's still a pain in the ass to manufacture, if the color of the air in my watchmaker's shop is any indication. 😁
Unfortunately, I don't have a better picture as it's back with my parents, they being settled in their new house now.

Is that a serial '4'?
😀

I only had say when it came to not selling it when I was a kid 😁. When it comes to me, it will probably find it's way to a naval history or science museum once I no longer feel the need to be it's custodian.

Threads like this one are a welcome change from Uncle Watch posts (although not all Uncle watch posts are excruciating).

Unfortunately the chances of me snagging an example are zilch.
I feel envious of our North American members where they just seem to trip over them as they walk down the street.

I know of a model 21 for sale. But it is in Canada.

I should not have clicked on this thread. Here's ANOTHER watch I want, but can't afford. Oh well, it beats lusting after women.

Pursuing women and watches can each result in catching a disease. There’s no cure for the collecting of watches!

Your chronometer tub is outfitted to be gimbal mounted. I don’t know the complete story behind these chronometers when they were decommissioned by the authorities. But I can tell you there has been a flourishing business in producing cases for these chronometers. And much of the hardware that was part of these cases may very well still be available. So it seems the chronometers in their tubs were put into containers for storage owing to the huge amount of space that would have been required to store them in their mahogany cases. Congratulations! But I suggest you don’t run it until you have had it serviced.
