New Bond watch

I'm a little torn with this new 60th watch. Love its dial, bezel and loolipop hand (haven't seen the watch personally yet); but I miss the lumed pip and the traditional bracelet (I own the NTTD and the mesh is a little bulky and often too loose on my wrist using the 4th hole or too thigh using the 3rd - would love if forster made a titanium bracelet for it). I don't care much for the new screwed caseback and the gimmick.

This is actually the watch I wished for the 60th anniversary (and probably never going to see this model being available for the public), with blue dial and no patina:

I love the fact that people think the new watch is too bling for Bond to wear, when he’s turned up in an Aston wearing a Tux and advertised exactly who he his by saying his name twice.

I did not want my first post on this forum to be non-introductory in nature. But I just couldn't walk past this, as this was my first thought when I read the previous post, I figured I may as well wholeheartedly agree now and provide my own context later on.
bpsmith, very funny take that made me giggle mate!!

Personally, aesthetically I love the new iteration. But until I see it in the metal, I'd have to reserve complete judgement. As an owner of the (Brosnan era) 2531.80 and a long time coveter....and hopefully one day, owner....of the (Casino Royale model) 2220.80, I can't help but think I lean towards them first. Maybe it's the bracelet.....maybe it's just that I'm an unyielding old fart who's stuck in the past.

Anyway, sorry to butt in with a first post of this nature. A little more about me and my current collection of 4 Omega's to follow in another thread in due course.

Just tried it on. I don’t like it. It’s too big. The NTTD fits better and doesn’t look as big!

Looks superb, really clean!

Glad you enjoyed. Welcome to the forum and looking forward to hearing more about the 4 Omega’s you mention.

I bet the round animation window is 9mm like the gun barrel 😉

I definitely would prefer it on the standard bracelet, which would be more historically correct (i.e. GoldenEye):

Hopefully that bracelet will fit. I havent gotten definitive information one way or the other.

I already bought a new Seamaster bracelet for mine!
I admire your confidence! 👍 I’m simply not that brave to be this preemptive!

At that point you would have to ask why it was $3k more than the standard watch since it’s nigh on identical from the front at least. It’s a lot to pay for date window deletion.

If I were to buy this watch, the standard Seamaster bracelet is almost a must have for me. But that's mainly because I already own the NTTD and would want this one to look different.

I'm actually quite conflicted about this watch. As a Bond fan, I love the wave tribute to GoldenEye and the very cool caseback animation. The animation is the biggest draw. OTOH, I can't see buying the watch just for the caseback animation. Furthermore, the "Bond tariff" is pretty hefty if all one wants is a nice Seamaster 300M. If I was really interested in a GoldenEye tribute, I'd prefer to buy the 90s vintage original.

Yet I'm still attracted to this 60th Anniversary model. Whether or not the standard Seamaster bracelet can fit this watch will be a deciding factor, as it's really too similar to my NTTD to justify the purchase otherwise.

I have a feeling watch enthusiasts will never agree on what the SMP300 dial should look like until it looks exactly like this:

I feel much the same regarding this and the NTTD -- I prefer the NTTD overall, I think, but want to see the new Bond in the metal before making the call. That may take some time, however, given the long lists here in Canada for this one. Maybe this summer when we're back in the UK.

Heavens!

Then article after article, YouTube after YouTube, insta after insta, lauding the crown's genius, perfect proportioning , daring innovation ( look at that helium valve ! That bezel ! The intricate, purposeful bracelet ! ) and astronomical grey market prices.

For what it's worth (not much), I have zero interest in Bond. This is not meant to be critical of others who do. I am a Speedmaster astronaut freek so can understand why people would have an irrational connection to watches with a story.

Having said that, I really like the NTTD and am actively fighting the urge to get one. It's difficult for me to appreciate anyone's thought that it looks too Bond. That brown with gray casing is a work of art. Watch for watch, I like it better than the new 60th. Still, that blue on the 60th with the smaller waves is nice. Not several thousand dollars nice, but a nice choice on a basic Seamaster.

+! on this. I have the super comfortable 300m no wave SMPc and the NTTD is the only Seamaster that tempts me to flip from what I have.

🥰 That's another nice one!

Reminds me of the Liquid metal LE that Ash wrote about.
