Very funny. I did go visit my son this weekend (he attends college at U of Arizona) and not once did I catch him staring at the watch despite my obvious wrist placements. I did get an "oh cool" however at some point during the weekend. And that was better than past statements of "another watch?"

I suspect most 18 year-olds do not have the same appreciation for watches as we do. So I think I will be keeping this one for 20 more years.
I am sure he will find something around Tucson that interests him 馃檮 .

The Geology department has a great mineral collection, really 馃榿

You are one lucky guy. Everytime I see my daughter and son-in-law I hear "Gee Dad, new watch?" To which my wife replies..."I'm going shopping". I wish they had bad vision. 馃槈

I'm 21. My father got me in to watches. He got me a cheap Quartz citizen at a young age, then an auto orient, a Bernhardt and an accutron VX200. Now I've got the bug almost as bad as he does although his collection is much better. Maybe you could buy him a cool watch? It doesn't always work (I've done it with my friends... And then cry inside when I see naked wrist) but it's worth a shot. The WIS syndrome IS contagious although sometimes you have to try hard to infect. Just my $0.02 as a son.

He sent me this picture yesterday of his wrist. We basically have our own WRUW texts 馃槈

BTW if I was your son you would get lots of compliments and stares. THAT is a BEAUTY. I really really love it!!!

Edit: like father like son. My 2254, being 9 hours away from my Dad it's cool to be wearing the same watch. Can't explain it.

Congrats on the Gemini, I would love to own one of these versions as well but are in the same boat. Picked up a NOS snoopy and have yet to wear it as it is brand new. Never worn/sized. It looks so perfect that I can't bring myself to wear it..... Was almost considering picking up another one in average shape so I could wear it.

16 months after purchase I found a box 馃榾.

This watch was purchased new in 2006 for $2,856.00 from an AD on the east coast. Back then the list price was $3200.

Seems like a deal today!

One sold today on eBay. List price was $5028. But it looks like it was sold as best offer. I asked the seller if he would provide the sales price.

Lol. How could I be known to the OF world as Gemini4 and not already own one (or two) of this wonderful reference. I was just curious about current prices.

Dear taddyangle,
Yes it sold for 拢3333 + 拢79 shipping.
Regards, John.

$4900 USD. Wow

When you can rock one of these, why search the world for a blue 321 Speedie bezel.

The one at Christie's sold for $4200 USD. (Hammer price)

True ($5250 with commission). Not much interest that night for this lot. Under the radar for sure.

I'd still take one of those blue service dials myself, as nice as these are..

+1 for wearing it! There are many other items for financial investment that have no intrinsic qualities to be enjoyed 馃榾

As a 20 year-old I would agree with you that most of us do not have the same appreciation for watches as many of you. Having said that, some of us do exist. There are some of us who would rather wear a speedy rather than an Apple watch!
