Is it common that the 0 of a LE is coming up for sale? It is without b&p, I did already check that.
The zero number raises my eyebrow. The sub dials look a little too clean. Let me get the book. Please hold.
The only 0000 watches I have seen are in advertizing images. Does not make sense to me unless omega was trying to state a limited number of watches, but no number to each watch, which I doubt in this case. I would ask for proof.
My pics are from omegas a book of time. I agree that is a fake perhaps because the zero is advertised in the book.
For what it's worth, I've seen this seller, yuromeo, on eBay for about two years, selling numerous Omegas, including about half a dozen premoons that I've noticed. Never anything remarkable and jaw dropping, but very fair, middle-of-the-road typical examples. So he has a track record and an established reputation. In his listing, he claims that the "0000" is a watch not sold, but given away (for various reasons) by Omega; and the says that information will be provided to the winning bidder. Again, I don't know about the facts of this case, but Omega on multiple occasions presents Speedmasters as awards and as charity auction items. For example, a couple years ago, the Kansas Cosmosphere auctioned off an Omega Speedmaster 3570.50.00 as a fundraiser, and the warranty card was stamped by Omega SA, with a return address of their headquarters in Bienne. The "0000" numerals do look consistent in font, spacing, and location with the other numerals and text of the caseback. I'm interested to see what the story of this watch winds up being, and if somebody on here goes for it! Good luck!!
Thanks everybody for your input. The caseback picture from the book is really interesting. To my understanding this would have to be the exact watch, if the watch in the auction was original. Now I compared the two pictures of the caseback and to me it looks as though at least the spacing of the numbers isn't the same! See here the "book" (narrower): and here the auction (wider): Does not look OK to my eyes!
Ive asked the seller for a photo of the confirmation he clsims he has from omega and a pic with the 0000/2005 visible next to a piece of paper with his ebay id on it. No response so far.
There could be several 0000's. They wouldn't just make one pre-production watch, they'd make heaps. For example the Dark Side Of the Moon prototypes are different from the production models (strap changed and bezel is different) but there are dozens of prototypes still out there.
Kind reduces the impact of , "one of only 2000 watches made", when you add an asterisk of, "*except for all the others we made"
I know the seller personally. I have also seen the watch personally as well as the documentation. He is a great guy and the docs back the watch up 100%. Omega have confirmed it is legit. The seller is very trustworthy and we have spoken at length before he listed this watch. I can tell you that he is away also as we spoke yesterday.
Yes, at this point all concerns about the watch and buyer have been eliminated. Corporate Omega's stupidity remains
I have dealt with this seller some years ago, and he was completely correct. from that experience I would be happy to buy this watch, if I wanted it.
