Advice on what? Price? Because you already got some opinions on originality. From long time members. And I think they are saying that gold watches are just a bit less desirable then stainless steel watches. But your watch indeed is very special. It's hard to put a price on it because they dont come up that often on the market.

Agree with you. I think on a watch like this you need to factor in condition and rarity. Of course it’s a design that is less sought after than a normal DeLuxe but still, I haven’t seen a lot of these for sale, especially with box (and potentially papers?), in these conditions. All of this brings a premium with it.

Yes, maybe it stays unsold a bit longer than a DeLuxe, but it’s a watch that will probably be sold for that price at some point, because of its rarity and scarcity.

Again, what are your thoughts on the watch? Expert or not, it shows willing and effort and gets the conversation started.

Thanks. I really am not a jerk, LOL

My thoughts are that I absolutely LOVE this watch, and I have been looking for one for 2 years. The ONLY thing i would rather is if it had the dog leg lugs instead of the "shroud". It has the rare, stepped dial and the arrowheads. The bracelet is the perfect size for me, and its not all stretched out.
it comes with the box and papers.

the price seems reasonable.

BUT, I am a novice, and i know very little.

thanks again.

its on ebay right now:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/285448827679

i know these watches are worth money, i sold this one not so long ago, i have seen those braelets fetch over 5000 if you can find one, most of which are stretched out and useless in my opinion. I loved this watch but I simply could not find the bracelet for it, so i sold it.

here is another one, no stepped dial, but the dog leg lugs. Almost twice the price, but its "new".

(actually, it looks like its sale pending, you snooze you lose on these.)

These prices seem aspirational, but what do I know? The ebay watch is just sitting, so all of the potential buyers who have seen it agree (at least as of now) that it is overpriced. If you don't care, buy it. I am always super careful to try not to overpay, but that is because I am not wealthy. If I had a lot more money maybe I would not care. Good luck with the hunt.

The OP watch listing says "No come with papers", and the box is often available on ebay for about $100. So no real added value there. And listing says "professionally polished" which lowers the value.
While price seems very high to most here, if you gotta have it maybe its priceless.

Mike,

I have read this discussion from the beginning and initially I wanted to hold back my thoughts...
Now I want to drop my 2 cents and I hope it may ease your mind and help with your decision.

I know this model very well as I have the same in pink gold but without the bracelet which I don´t mind.

These are great watches and I like the fact that this reference has the bullet proof full rotor cal. 505 instead of a bummper.
This ref. does not have a date window which makes the watch much more attractive (at least for my taste)
The specimen on discussion looks all original to me
The case has received some light polish which would not be a deal breaker for me as it still looks very nice - we must not forget that it is made of the soft 18K alloy. The stars on the back are crisp and clear which indicates that the watch was only sparingly worn.
Another fact that enforces this assessment is the bracelet which has no stretch (which is seldom found in this condition).
Speaking for myself I would not wear the watch on the gold bracelet but rather on a nice croco strap and put the bracelet into the vault.
In the rural area where I live it would not be dangerous to wear this blingbling watch but it would look a bit out of place.
However I would not dare to wear such a watch in NY, Chicago or any other large city... this evening could end without half of your arm...
I think this model would be a corner stone for every hard core Constellation aficionado´s collection.
But I can also understand collectors who pass on this model as it would sit in the collection instead of being worn regularly.
You can look at it and admire the beauty every now and then but is this the purpose of a watch?
For this kind of money you can buy several other nice watches that can be worn - just a thought.
This is a "niche" model and the number of buyers is very limited...

So my advise: buy it if you love it so much and if you can afford it at any price.
As I am not so wealthy that I can spend this sum without any consideration I would either wait for a price drop or negotiate a better price with the seller. 8K would be the most I was willing to part with.

I have these two sitting in my bank deposit box (none as neat as the one OP posted). Due to the blingbling they rarely see daylight, but I still enjoy a lot to look at them (yes, I know 🤨). Should any of my kids decide to get married I might consider wearing one, though....😀

I’m no expert on this reference but the dial seems original and in very good condition and one of the main tell tales on Connies; the medallion, look razor sharp.

As noted above, the medallion condition combined with the tight bracelet adds credence to this watch being worn very little over the years. I’ve just bought a -71 Speedmaster which I believe has seen very little wear. Same applies, the case is very sharp and the bracelet is tight. It also has an engraving on the back indicating it was gifted as a commemorative watch. The same could easily apply to a solid gold watch.

Pre-1959, “Chronometre”, with a few exceptions.

1959 and later, “Chronometer”.

1959 marked introduction of cal. 551 and 561 chronometer movements.

Basically British vs. American English. Two people separated by a common language.

Gorgeous watch, but to me it’s akin to owning a Lamborghini Countach in the U.S. with its 55-65 mph speed limits. I mean where are you going to wear it without making yourself a target? Even in a safe environment, it’s a statement piece and will never see regular wear or even regular rotation on your wrist.

I don’t know how these bracelets are sized, but I don’t see anything in one image on how a link could be removed.

makes me think the bracelet may have been sized down already and no way to size up unless it comes with added links

better find out the maximum or minimum wrist size it will fit before you buy

is the crystal on this watch supposed to have the omega symbol etched onto it?
