I would guess a dial swap based on case and reference number

Sorry that I am a bit late to the party.

IMO at least the dial (maybe also the movement) has been recycled from a gold watch.

I have a 14K YG example with similar uncommon hour markers at 3,6,9 and 12 (although a bit different):

Man, what an absolute stunner

On ebay there's a ref. 2497-5 / cal. 265 with similar dial and a 12.0 mio. serial #:

This one looks immaculate

Well, @mac_omega's watch is immaculate, the eBay one is ... ahem ... let's just be kind and say the dial is tired.

First it's not a Calatrava, because it's an Omega and not a Patek. Dial is interesting but barely acceptable to many, a bit too much patina for a dress watch, second hand is incorrect. Case size at 34mm isn't particularly large but certainly quite wearable.

You could do a lot worse for the money.

I'm sure others will have an opinion.
I am sorry for interfering but I would like to take the opportunity and ask @X350 XJR , if the indication "Calatrava" addresses only to Pateks. I've seen hundreds of Longines described as "Longines Calatrava" and I would like to clarify if this description is true. However I have to admit that it's the first time I see the description "Calatrava" to an Omega...

Calatrava is a line produced by Patek Philippe. Nobody else.

That's all there is to it.

Imagine a Longines Royal Oak 🙄, or an Omega Sea Wolf 😲. Same thing in essence.

People flogging watches try to ride on the reputation of PP, and elevate their sometimes shitty offerings to PP levels.

On the other hand, "calatrava style" could be used, but it's still trying to polish a coprolite.

I'm sure @X350 XJR would agree.

yes I have seen also Tissot seamasters instead of seastars.. 😀 however the Longines Calatrava are so often found that I developed a sense that they exist!!

I don't even know what a “Calatrava style” would be anymore, it's being used for anything with three hands.

Another proof that watch styles really cut across all brands, in many instances. Serial number dates it to 1957-1958.

The dial is cool, but look at those lugs!

I find anything vintage with a subdial in the Italian market is a calatrava.

We won’t stop it as I noticed a Daniel Wellington called a calatrava style watch in a magazine on a plane a year or two ago.
