That case looks remarkably similar to this kind of Eterna case:

wow this is very similar, as i could't find any Connie with that shape around the lugs...

Quite amazing that a vintage jewelry store would completely dismantle a watch for photo's right there and then for somebody just showing some interest in maybe purchasing it...or OP are you perhaps already the owner/seller? 😗
I'm not the owner and i'm not selling, but i left a deposit in order to buy it. Sadly i'm a newbie with very few experience on the vintage market 😟

I can’t remember a locally made C-case case coming up before.
Possibly because restrictions on precious metals were being eased in the late 60s?

As for the OPs watch:
Good looking pie-pan dial
Pie pans don’t appear in C-cases
Snap back case
Significantly wrong shaped case
Medallion looks as though it may be applied not integral

So, definitely some kind of assembled watch.

Someone has certainly gone to a lot of trouble to produce the case if it in fact gold (as above, it needs to be tested)

if it proves to be gold and someone wanted a presentable gold dress watch with an Omega dial and movt then it’s would be worth having but I wouldn’t buy it as an Omega watch and price should reflect this.

thank you, it's a very reasonable suggestion!

Thought about this to. If i asked my local vintage store to do this they would laugh as the gave me a good:whipped:

😁😁😁 I know them personally, my family is a long-standing costumer (but for jewelers and girlie stuff...)

What are they asking for the watch. ?
they ask 2.000€
but as it appear to be a franken with a peculiar/incorrect/assembled gold case, it's way too much for me...

We are all noobs at one point in our lives. But you made an educated call and searched the internet for knowledge before puttting down your money. Many do the opposite. Hopefully they will give you your deposit back😀

It were me and the cost wasn't an issue, I'd ask that the case be tested to verify 18K gold... and then take the whole thing and run like heck.

Eventually the case will either be authenticated or a new case found.

😕 Run? As in it would make this a good deal so salvage it for the parts?
Funny image in my head, but I'm curious.

It’s either right, in which case you wear it as is for a low price, or you source a case for it and scrap the 18k case.

I just stumbled across this on eBay and remembered this thread.
This case looks remarkably similar to the OP’s. (166.029)

Also came gold plated.

It still doesn’t explain the case back though!

Found this at a Vintage Watch shop in Hong Kong. 18k solid white gold with the Pie Pan dial with gold bracelet.. Not sure if this is legit? Keen to know if this Pie Pan dial existed in the C case?

It’s probably better to start your own thread

I agree - but it would be a short thread.
that style of missing text dial (lasting until ‘62 - ‘63 at a push) could not have originally belonged to a reference released in ‘64.

Morning !
It seems there is a consensus .. not an original Omega, no interest for a collector .. but looks nice to me .. a pie pan dial in a C-shape case (or close to ...) if it wasn't so expensive ..

Guys, you've been very kind and supportive, you helped me with usful tips and priceless reviews so I owe you all a final update on this thread.
Long story short: I haven't finalized the purchase.
Too many doubt on that C-shape case, the lacking of hallmark, the price (too much for a real pie pan with franken gold case and way too little for a regular one)...
So I ended up buying this Seamaster 166032, Day-Date, 18k gold
I promise i'll open a new thread when it's overhaul time, with inside pics!

Nice one! I do like very much this sparkling dial. Is it caliber 751 and if you don't mind, what was the price? 😉
