Afternoon All,

Can I please have your thoughts on this Constellation, currently on ebay UK with a BIN of £1699.

168.005 on the caseback and a caliber 561 with serial no 24448oo9.

No paperwork but the movement looks clean, apart from what looks like some rotor rub on the outer edge (I've asked about if this is rubbing).

Its missing two loom pips and the dial has some spotting and a smudge/mark between 5 and 6.

Plexi is signed.

Thank you.

I'm no expert but lume pips on these indices would be easy to fix, I also think some of the ones are already not original

Price is very meh.

Wrong crown as it has already been pointed out. Case appears very polished, plus a non perfect dial, I would pass on this one also considering the high price

Is dial too small for this case? Appears to be gap between dial and case. Is there something missing?

Now I’m intrigued by your concept of value.
What do you think this watch is worth?

And more importantly what do you think I should pay for that perfect dial watch?
My shopping list is;
Gold hands and indices/numerals on a contrasting pie pan dial
Ideally no date
Ideally a recent service

I think that ideally if you want all of this for a good price, you must be quick and knowledgeable, which is something that you can develop with experience and time.

Otherwise, if you need all of these aspects to tick, I am afraid you need to pay a higher price to expert sellers like OmegaEnthusiast and just swallow the bill.
From my point of view, I would rather pay 3k for a much better example than 2k for an example with a lot of troubles. What you save you’re going to lose in a future sale..

What you can also do is to aim for an example with a great dial but not a great case, and find another donor watch that you can take the case from. But again, you need to spend time finding the pieces and also trusting a good watchmaker if you’re not able to do the swap yourself.

About the watch you posted, I don’t see any excelling item in the categories you mentioned, so it’s not worth spending that amount from my point of view..

Ah, I see your judgement as expensive based on you not wanting anything to do with it.

Whilst my shopping list has three items only the first is a definite, the others may be compromised on.

You have reminded me of OmegaEnthusiast though...
