Does anyone know if the back of the cases are interchangeable between hesalite and sapphire? It would be great if they were now that the movements are decorated exactly the same. I know on the previous version they were not.

According to multiple reviews the movement are one I'm the same.

According to this article (see the comments), the previous version had interchangeable case backs (hesalite+sapphire), you only need a space ring:

I review on the hesalite 3861 or a 1861 (not that it matters. It's the same crystal).

There is a great YouTube video that broke down the positives of the 3861 sapphire and hesalite.

I didn't have a choice but if I did I don't know what I'd pick. If you are worried about scratches then go sapphire. I'm very very worried about scratches but I'm still happy with the sapphire.

Let me also say this. If you scratch sapphire there is very little you can do to fix it compared to the hesalite.

So hesalite is warm and no distortion. Brushed bracelet.
Sapphire is more flashy with applied logo and polished links
Yea I have no issues with sapphire. I’ve never gotten a scratch on them as I’m pretty careful. I’ll have to compare the light play between both to see which I prefer.

I know all about the poly watch and polishing, just need to figure out if it will bother me having to polish off scratches on a $6k plus watch every so often. I look at my seamaster and it looks flawless and I like it that way haha.

I’ll have to wait a while for my AD to get them in to do that comparison.

Again for me it was hesalite or nothing. And I wasn't going to walk out without a watch.
I do prefer the bracelet on the hesalite but the applied logo of the sapphire.

An awesome watch, congratulations OP.

Going to pick up a Sapphire version at some point to partner my 1861 Hesalite, no rush though as it will be around for a while.

Just received my hesalite 3861 today, anyone else notice that the top link, one down from the end link, can be a little stiff? I’m hoping it’s just as it’s new and needs some “wear” a little like the rolex squeak

Hopefully the AD's will start discounting these soon as some UK AD's already have the available for next day delivery

I was in my local store and was able to compare the older 1861 hesalite to a sapphire. Definitely prefer that warmth of the hesalite. He also had a hesalite sandwich that was about 20yrs old and was asking $5250. Tempting best of both worlds but I’d need to ask if that watch has been fully serviced.

What are your thoughts on service intervals between the 1861 vs 3861s. I heard with the coaxial movement it could potentially go up to 10yrs before a service? Maybe that would justify paying more up front. What are the average service intervals for the 1861?

I've been kinda agonizing/obsessing about this ever since I placed an order (still waiting) for a sapphire, very much entranced by the display back and the beautiful 3861 movement. I just sent an inquiry as to the availability of the Hesalite version, rationalizing that I'll be looking at the front at least 99% of the time. I have a tube of poly-watch and know how to use it. I imagine that the display back can probably be added (at enormous cost, no doubt) at some time in the future. Probably comparable to the cost of replacing the front sapphire crystal if I managed to break or scratch it. I'm really drawn to the Hesalite's warmth and clarity, thinking the "milky ring" would start to bug me. Anyone else on the horns of this dilemma?

Are you in the US? Omegas website seems to have the hesalite in stock.

I was. Got the Hesalite by default because I really wanted the new Speedmaster ASAP (before the birth of my daughter) and the Sapphires were unknowns as to when they were coming in at the time, actually so were the Hesalites, but I got the first call when they got one in. It literally took me seconds to decide that I wanted it. In the end, I'm glad it worked out that way. Very glad. The dial is stunning viewed through the Hesalite. I was going to grab an 1861 (at a discount) if I couldn't pickup a 3861 in time. Got lucky. And bonus, it was the full moon the day I purchased (1/28).

Yes, in the US, about a 2 1/2 hour drive from my AD, who I've been dealing with for 35+ years and has offered me a really decent trade on my 1861, so I'll probably wait it out either way. He's always treated me fairly and has excellent service. At 73 I'm usually pretty patient, but this new movement and bracelet has got me pretty excited.

Yesterday I was able to compare Hesalite and sapphire 2021 Speedmaster watches. I like the applied logo, and I was hoping the sapphire milk ring in the new model would not bother me. For me, the sapphire model is still a non-starter. I am a long time Hesalite Speedy owner. When I glance down at a Speedy, I expect that familiar look of Hesalite. If I were new to the Speedmaster (or if I gave the sapphire sandwich some time!), I might get used to it. I bought the Hesalite model, am going to pick it up today.

Love the movement, the applied logo, the bracelet, the display back of the Sapphire, the milky ring, not so much. Just wondering if (1) the cases are the same, and (2) the Hesalite crystal will fit the Sapphire case (3) would Omega do the exchange (without voiding the warranty? ) (4) what would it cost? vs buying a Hesalite and adding the display back. They've done a Hesalite Speedy with a display back before, really don't want to wait possibly years to find out if they'll do another one. Hard to choose. Should probably just buy the Hesalite and look at the picture of the 3861on the website, but dammit, I want to watch it run! 😕

From what I understand, the crystals are not interchangeable.

Having had the hesalite 1861 for a couple of years with no issues I have just picked up the 3861 hesalite, I prefer the non polished bracelet and the warmth of the hesalite. It would be nice to have a see-through case back but would prefer the non polished bracelet as thats what I'll be noticing the most once its on my wrist. My guess is that most people will be buying the crystal version as paying xxxx for a watch with a plastic "crystal" that is prone to scratch will be a worry.

This is the new sapphire next to the new plexi:

Are those both the 3861 bracelets? I understand the difference but they really look different and even different widths?
