Call me biased, but when I see poor grammar or spelling, at least to the degree of this guy, I instantly think scam. If the guy was in an area where english may not be the primary language, I would understand, but that doesn't appear to be the case here. My english is probably on a remedial level, but I at least try to make a professional effort when online transactions are involved.

Anyways, thanks for sharing this, I love seeing a scammer get scammed. Looking forward to reading the rest of this thread, I got my night set.

Guys is this watch legit? Can't find anywhere with such a back online? Is this back fake? Brought at auction so came with no papers at all.
@DLT222 did you notify the police in the area about the shipment? Perhaps they could have grabbed the guy picking up the rock

yes it was all reported

Sadly, there’s a portion of our population who are gullible (plus at least some level of greed) enough to get duped.

^ My own mother, unfortunately, except without the greed component.

Twice now, my brother has randomly discovered that she was elbows deep in similar stuff because she's called him to ask what her internet backing password is as the password she's typing into the link from the phishing email is not working.

My Paypal sent you an email. It’s 99% on the way to your account. If not yet there, just wait a few hours.

Stay safe.

I have to admit, I have a parody "Grammarly" youtube advertisement running through my head.

As an agent for foreign dignitaries, executor for estates without heirs and general buyer and seller of goods, I write thousands of emails a day. However, I had a nagging sense that my wording was not as impactful as it could be, thereby costing me business.

That's why I turned to Grammarly. Grammarly helped me craft well-worded, concise emails as if they were written by a John Patterson ghost writer.

As a result, my response rate has multiplied ten fold. Now, I have almost every Nigerian prince contacting me to help them facilitate transfers of large sums of money into wealthy countries.

Thanks, Grammarly.

Very nice to see his reaction, and well played!

When reading all these messages and fake emails, I only wonder who is falling for these scams. But than I think about the elderly and “less bright”, and I feel sorry! Because apparently, there is a market for these scams....

Anyway, I’m glad that you took the time for this and reported it to the police! Great!

It's probably those that lack sufficient experience. Email exchanges that are intended to represent official invoicing etc, are photoshopped to those that can identify problematic areas within, but an average person might not pay close enough attention to verify the doc is indeed a forgery. I get 1-5 from "Apple" weekly. I laugh every time I spot the errors in their formatting.

To your point, there's that obvious demographic that falls for it 50% of the time and these people deal in quantity. They might send 500 emails a day but secure 1. On a more expensive item.. well that's a lucrative haul.

I love this, but with a caveat: never underestimate the human capacity for revenge. The guy could later buy something else from you under another handle, get your name and address, and try something cute. So for your own sake--be careful going forward.

Besides that--thank you.

That's true. He could send him an even BIGGER rock. That'll show him.

It’s nuts that the scammer was angry! Seems like he should have just gone silent.

Of course I was angry. I ran a tab of $200 the night before buying all my buddies drinks to celebrate.
