I love this, but with a caveat: never underestimate the human capacity for revenge. The guy could later buy something else from you under another handle, get your name and address, and try something cute. So for your own sake--be careful going forward.

I am often tempted to mess with scammers, especially the attempted Social Security fraud I experienced recently. However, I am always counseled by an inner voice that says “just ignore it”. (I did report it to SS through) Its like dealing with Gypsies and other scammers on the street, once you engage, you are in their vortex. Still ... I loved the story and was also concerned that the scammer has the OP address.
