Murmurs about new release

Omega should take a page from the Christopher Ward playbook. I don't own any at the moment, but still receive emails. Look at the story behind the C60 Trident Pro 300. Christopher Ward asked the forum what they want in an ideal dive watch. The response was smaller case sizes (38, 40, 42) and a THINNER watch (11.3 mm). It still has 300 m water resistance, and a see through case back. No reason the Diver 300 can't be similar in thickness. My point is that it appears more people than not, want watches that are smaller these days. And some companies listen to what their customers actually want. Sorry for the rant, and I also acknowledge that Omega is releasing exactly what some people want. Too big for me, is perfect for others.

Agree that this is an interesting model. CW Trident was my gateway into watches when I was penniless in grad school years ago, and I really enjoyed the watch and the CS. Just picked up this Omega-infused fella in a trade, and gotta say it's a marvel for the (relative) pittance paid. Not sure we ever see Omega "descend" to that level of interaction with user base tho.

I agree about Omega never asking the forum for what people want. Don't think they need to do that, but at least read a little bit. It won't take much research to see that people complain about the size of their product.

The internet is full of people who will complain about anything and everything. You could say they listened by not making a million LE watches every year, and now people are complaining they cant get the 50th Snoopy or 60th Bond lol. Like any other company, they'll listen to the money and customers can vote with their money.

For all the complaining that is done somebody is still buying these watches. And this one is very clearly not aimed at the majority of Omega fans who come here, it's very sporty and very modern.

New technique show-off, I get it.
Looks completely computer or AI designed/generated.

Where is the soul?

Looks to me like someone saw a G-Shock with a negative display and thought "We could do that to a Planet Ocean..."

Def some interesting tech though. Omega could call themselves "Masters of materials..."

Oh wait --

How long will it take Omega to understand we do not need another PO tall for 17.4 mm.

I thought you were making a joke by saying it's 17.4 mm tall.

Can you remind me which casebook you use? I ordered one via a local watchmaker ages ago but it never showed up and he said the company was basically non-responsive, so thinking of trying again.

I love my FOIS, but had always planned to move to a transparent caseback at some point.
It's spiralwinder caseback.

And just announced the new ultralight ceramic PO with a titanium movement.

sounds like the PO just lost the “Which is a better weapon” category in the sub vs po competition.

Yes, but considering how little it weighs for how how much volume it takes up, there's no doubt that the new PO wins the "puff piece" category

I think the worst case of this kind of self-sufficience snobism is Vacheron Constantin… their design team is always one or two steps behind… always making their new models too big and too weird to be masterpieces… and of course never taking in account feedbacks from customers willing to buy pieces from them given the heritage, etc.

According to the SAs at my local OB, they do spend a lot of time reading forums to take the consumers' feedback into account.

So that either means that the information they are passing along to headquarters is being ignored, or it just takes a long time to implement the changes and get them out to the market.

Supposedly the big thing they are currently working on is quick release bracelets and straps (Omega calls it the "Quick Change System") but they have no idea when they will be available for purchase. It's currently offered on the SMP Paris 2024 and the America's Cup edition. I guess that's a clue as to how long it takes them from testing the waters to mainstream.

The quick release bracelets are a necessary move, but still behind Cartier who started this 5 years ago. Lmao.

give us redesigned Seamasters and planet oceans with spirate and omegasteel too. And drop the sizes and thicknesses.
