I have not heard of any stores or pop-ups/roadshows having Mercury for a while now. I wonder if there is an issue like the Neptunes?
'm in Italy, close to Turin and there is just 1 boutique in Turin that never has available Marcury model...

Interesting. I’ve worn my Mercury regularly since the release in March and it’s been fine. Haven’t heard of any widespread issues. Unlike Neptune, which has paused production AFAIK.

My first impression was how light it was.. lol I don't know what I was supposed to expect, but that was my first thought. I tend to like heavier automatics, so pulling this out of the box was kinda weird. lol , it was given to me as a gift, and I hadn't handled one prior. Love it for what it represents over anything else.

I just picked up a Mars -- had gone into the local Swatch shop once before to see one in the plastic... erm, bioceramic, and was surprised that they had a few in stock. Venus and Sun also there, but as a fan of the Alaskas I thought the Mars would be an interesting addition.

First impressions are, as others have noted -- it's plasticky. Really plasticky. But the dial and handset are well done, and the colour scheme is striking enough to maintain interest. The chrono hands on mine work well enough, and the pusher feel is surprisingly good, as is legibility.

Not sure it's a keeper for me but maybe for one of the kids. I do think it's a convincing package that with slightly sturdier build and better WR might do well as a fun work watch. But at over a million sold, it's clearly doing just fine as it is.

Congrats (I assume 🤔) - the Mars Ed. is my 2nd favorite - as I (also) love the Alaska Project watches (particularly the original prototype 🥰)

I think we can all agree that after that first day last March, it was obvious that Hayek et al. struck oil with their idea... 😉

@scapa , swapping out the strap really makes a difference as well.

Many thanks for the tip -- I will definitely give it a try when I get home from this work trip. I have a few straps kicking about that might work on Mars, and saw a link somewhere to Perpetual custom rubber straps also.

I've owned quite a few Speedys and love my current FOIS, and I am enjoying the Alaska-ish appeal of this one. I also think the lume is decent for the price and package -- at least as readable as a few other lume-light Omegas I've owned.

These are fun for sure. And while they may not quite scratch the Speedy itch, this Mars edition is certainly satisfying in its own plasticky... erm, bioceramic-y way...

Just be careful with those plastic...erm bioceramic lugs! 😉

Ha ha, a very cool member contacted me. He was on vacation and the vacation spot had a swatch store with a small assortment of moonswatch. I’d always say I’d pick one up if I didn’t have to jump through hoops to get one and this member made the transaction quite easy which I greatly appreciate.

I got the Jupiter one. Anyway I left it on the kitchen table in its box as I wanted to wear it in the morning. Went down in the AM and it was gone. My wife saw “omega” on the box, thought it was valuable and hid it somewhere so the burglars couldn’t get it.

I’m still waiting for her to remember where the hec she put it. I have been down this road with her before. Pretty sure she will dig it out tonight. I told her it’s not valuable it’s plastic. She asked me why would I spend 300 plus on a plastic watch. Actually couldn’t answer that one.

Anyway I vow to have my super valuable moonswatch back tonight since we are both home.

Oh she remembered my bad it was mission to Saturn don’t know why I said Jupiter. As you can see the lugs are in perfect shape. I was going to give it as a gift but tbh I might just keep it it’s kinda cool in a way.

I still think the Mission to Saturn dial printing looks better than the Speey "Moon to Mars" ::stirthepot::

But seriously, I'd love to pick up the Saturn and Mars Moonswatches at some point.

Because they're fun and we have more money than sense!

I had on my Earth yesterday. I don't understand the hate these things got/get. I think they're awesome.
@Walrus if you do keep it though I do highly suggest swapping out the velcro strap for something else.
I bought a couple of these in different colors...

Ah thanks for the link yes I would like to switch out the band do I use a regular strap changing tool? I haven’t looked how it’s connected yet. And yes I think the wise choice is for me to keep it. I know it would have made a nice gift but tbh I will probably never have the opportunity to pick up another so it makes little sense to give it away. I can always buy a seiko or something for my buddy’s present.

A brilliant marketing move by Swatch/Omega in my opinion, but I'll stick with the real thing.

Ya I don’t get the hate, no one is forced to buy anything. I get the annoyance at omega changing their tone about online availability. Another complaint I hear is they should be about a hundred bucks but imo eggs should be a dollar for 12. Kind of comical but I saw on Reddit the moonswatch has lead numerous people to buying the real omega. I realize I’m late to the party and this topic has been discussed adnauseum (tired spelling) but I think it’s a gimmicky cool thing that worked.

Sorry, I think my moonswatch is far superior as I don’t have to wind it.

Come to Central Pennsylvania Amish country. Eggs here are often $1/dozen. Omegas, not so much.

You have a point there. Also, I'm pretty sure that if we dropped both that mine wouldn't fare as well as yours.

Yes I just used a regular spring bar tool.
I was just VERY careful because I didn't want to damage the plastic lugs.
I would HIGHLY recommend getting a replacement strap with quick release spring bars, that way it will be easier to install and take back off if you choose to do so.

Why not have both?
