Anyone know the origin of Tom's handle? Was he a fan of skunks? If so he would enjoy this photo of one of my favorite visitors to my backyard.

Treat them kindly. One of them will be Tom.

Terrible to hear. Unfair to die so young. I will remember Tom as one of the wayward members of omega forum with a present opinion but a heart of gold. At least, that's how he came across to me. Condolences to those who knew him better.

My deepest sympathies to Tom’s family and friends. It’s going to be strange and sad to not be able to listen to his point of view. Reading his posts and seeing how respected he was something I really appreciated about OF.

RIP Tom and sincere condolences to his family.

He was a stalwart of the forum.

A man of strong opinions but quick to help others, with a wealth of knowledge that will be missed.

57 is no age at all and certainly makes you take take stock.

I barely knew Tom but relished his contrarian attitude which often provided a counterpoint to more mainstream views expressed by others.

He often made me question my opinion and think more deeply about subjects. We could disagree regularly but he was always there to help.

RIP skunkprince

Not what one likes to read when returning to read the forum before bed.

Condolences to all those affected.

I echo those sentiments.

We're all going to go at some stage, but knowing that doesn't make it any easier.

This surely can’t be so? He was his usual self when posting here on Thurs am, slightly spiky always interesting. If it is true he’ll be sorely missed.

Skunkprince was in fact Tom's second username, prior to that he was known as VetPsychWars. He changed handles not to deceive but because he felt that the old name attracted the wrong attention. This is in fact against forum policy but the powers that be looked the other way with Tom since he wasn't up to no good. He was just as helpful (and occasionally irritated) under that older guise as more recently and many may remember him under that name.

Interesting and helpful guy. It would have been good to have had a chat over a beer.
