I think the main issue here is that they are being sold as something they are not and the sellers are misleading people who don't know any better. If the "artisans" who make these items believe in their work then they should not feel the need to try to deceive people and describe them as something they are not. They are nothing more than scoundrels and ruffians in my opinion.

Having worked on an IWC pocket watch conversion (likely made by the same sort who made the piece of junk posted here by the OP), I can say that for that one at least, the quality was very bad. The movement had been tampered with (some fairly random balance wheel had been installed) and the case was a very simple snap together construction - it didn't even have a case tube for the crown to seat on as there was just a hole drilled in the side of the case for the stem to go through!

I had to do a lot of work to get it to run well - the positional variation when I received it was over 900 seconds over 6 positions...I agree that the way these are advertised and the quality of the work is very poor.

However that does not mean that all pocket watch conversions are like this. If done properly and honestly, they can be quite interesting pieces, and can save movements that otherwise would end up in the scrap pile.

Cheers, Al

It would help if the posts that sing the praises of these "special pieces" didn't read like an infommercial written by a PR agency's intern.

I know this is an old thread, but have seen the nonsense being made and sent out of Kiev and found this discussion after searching "Kiev", i'd lay money that either Detmangusta knows Jessica or they're the same person, attempting to promote their product on here with a little bit of cloak and dagger stuff, Spikispikester hit the nail on the head, something off about the supporters of these watches,
Even had to hesitate a second there before typing the word "watches" - it felt so wrong to even refer to them as that
