Hey Forum,

having recently purchased my first Seamaster 165.002, cal 552 from 1968 and still absolutely loving wearing it with pride 😀 I have been continuing my education on here and learning about different models...one day I will own a Connie for sure 😁 and have learned that the Jumbo models are very rare (enjoyed a recent thread learning about those)

I would love to learn more about the movements & mechanics, I have read lots of threads on here about how to understand the Cal's, Serial numbers, Jewell's and so forth, but I would like to learn what the key components are. When I was looking for my first vintage you guys on here were too kind steering me away from less desirable vintages e.g. rotor burn, a regulator missing it's adjustment screw etc.

As such I wondered if there is a thread on here I have missed in my learning which perhaps identifies the different components and shows a clean/good component v.s. dirty/broken/missing parts ones 😀

many thanks in advance,
Dave

I'm new here, but I would suggest starting by searching for and studying exploded views of movements. For me, it helped to understand how parts interact, and with identification.
