Everyone on OF can PM me now with a pitch on how their watch is about to appreciate in value and I'll throw you cash like there's no tomorrow. [emoji23]

"Jeff, my watch is in its depreciation trough. If you don't buy now, you'll be missing out on potentially huge gains. The only thing you'll regret is that you didn't buy two of them."

or "Jeff I have a 2 year old watch and I have to sell. I'll give you a 20% discount on original market value which is an fair deal...hell for you I'll make it 25%!" (oh yes, I did get it from a gray dealer originally at 25% new but, hey! you don't have to know that do you?)

Dont forget the huge rise from production and parts costs to retail value. This would be a huge rise on the graph for most watches

I have a feeling this graph is going to show up in job interviews in two years and the potential employer will be like, "why should we hire you if you make graphs like this?" Awkward silence will ensue. Haha

The next step is sharing it on LinkedIn with all of the big accounting firms and saying, this charmer is entering the workforce in 24 months. Prepare yourselves...

Haha, well so far it's going pretty well! I had a 3.96 last semester (granted it was the easiest semester ever). I got a 97 on my last econ test but the chapter covered elementary graphs for 9 year-olds as I've demonstrated clearly in this post.

Also, I got hired as a Resident Assistant for next year, so now college is costing me a whopping $1500/semester! Not bad! [emoji1]

I'm only going to buy 5 year old watches. BTW, tourneau in NYC has a like mint 176.007 on sale for $2400. Looked mint.

I went into Tournea in San Francisco (or "the city" as locals say), and the girl there let me try on an Explorer II 16570. They wanted $5400 for it... Which seems high.

Anyway, I guess Tournea will no longer be carrying Omega!

They will still carry second hand Omegas and new ones in cities with no Omega Boutique. If there is a Boutique Omega rakes the licensing from other dealers to thin out the competition.

That makes sense. Speaking of boutiques, the only luxury watch store we have here in Missoula is a Rolex shop. The owner told me I could possibly work there on the weekends. I think I'll take the gig. Would be super fun!

Anyway, sorry to detract from the convo. I'll shut my mouth and we can talk about watch investments some more.

They had about 10-15 second hand Omegas. I plan to hit the boutique Friday.

Great watch by the way. Depending on the serial price is not horrible but you're always going to pay a little more at Torneau. Does have the legitimacy stamp though.

Mine says high. And right out of the box it's older brother

Yeah, I am predictable, ain't I?

To my experience (and @LouS and @MMMD - that's not put in medical experience 馃槣) a quality watch's value is at it's low point somewhere around 15 - 20 years old. Sometimes they'll begin climbing back up the hill after that, sometimes they sit in the valley for a decade.

Know of any time machines that do not require a hot tub?

I've heard of one that works on Doritos...... 馃槈

I have not been in Tourneau for a while, but last time I did I was trying to negotiate trading in my 2-3 year old JLC master home time and getting a 2-3 year old master world geographic they had (used not mint). The manager told me their standard 'deal' for such a trade is to pay you 30 cents on the dollar, and charge you 80 cents on the dollar (versus the price of new watches). Nice spread.... Needless to say, I traded away from them. They were totally inflexible by the way.
