Postscript: I want to buy a new 36mm automatic watch

I’m looking to buy a new under £300 automatic watch for casual wear - walking the dog, playing with children in a sandbox etc but not a diver. I find my SKX007 and SKX013 both too 'clunky'.

I’ve had a few setbacks recently with used watches, and thought I’d have a look at new watch. Given that it’s new, I’d save on service and parts.

I’m looking for a 36-38mm three hands, date or no date (but not day or sub dials) on a leather strap. It’s not for 24 hour wear, but with a decent power reserve (and a winding crown) it’ll be ready and willing when I need it.

I quite like the look of these Baltic’s - they’re roughly what I’m looking for, albeit a little large at 38mm

I also quite like the look of the the Timex, but at 40mm, it’s a bit too wide for my wrist. That said the day/date is so subtle that I could live with it.

So, if anyone has any suggestions; mainline models or micro brands, I’d be very interested

Seiko Presage? 40mm though. With discounts you could find one of these for under £300.
Although I'd never go anywhere near sand with any watch on.

Orient
I like the look of the Orient Bambino but the diameter seems to be 40.5, unless I’m looking at the wrong model?

Can you wind the crown on a Seiko 5?
No, those you can’t, but 1/2 dozen shakes side-to-side gets them going then they’re good

They have a few sizes. I thought they got down to sub 38mm

Still, good looking and reasonably priced

Is Tissot still a brand people care for? Looks like they have a few watches that may meet the criteria.

Currently tempted by this one. It ticks all my boxes apart from being 40.5mm.
Please talk me out of it (or into it).
Black casual dial with a clean uncluttered look
Silver arrowhead indices
Dauphine hands
Stainless case
New automatic movement and a 40 hour reserve
And well within the price range
So, what’s wrong with it?

Get it. 40.5 is the new 38, which is practically 36.
