Looking for some feedback on this calibre 751

Hi. I'm looking to pick up my first Omega and I'm ready to pull the trigger on the one pictured. Service history is unknown, so I would need to have that done, along with a more appropriate strap.

My biggest interest is that it's the Chronometer calibre and is available at what seems a reasonable price.

Comments from the experts on anything that looks off would be appreciated.

Looks pretty good to me. Some scratches on the back and normal wear and tear keep it from the MSNWatch grade. If you can get it in the middle hundreds, you'll have done well.

These are often bargains. If reasonable go for it.

A Pirate with a Phillies logo? There's a certain South Jersean who might have a problem with that.

I think he's a bit too busy this week to care, though.

Yes, but that's like putting me on Renegade.

Don't get any ideas, Dr. Photoshop!

Looks like a decent buy if you get it at a fair price. They're pretty large too so they hold up well against modern watches.

You guys will get a kick out of this. Take a look, and excuse the hazy cell phone picture:

Lose the tie, get a fluffy ruffle shirt, switch the shoes for correct boots, then add the appropriate hat and sword and voila! One pirate! ....well, I'd have to be dirtied up a bit.

Thanks everyone for all the feedback. Watch is on its way! I learned a ton in a short period of time from reading this forum and it's been incredibly helpful.

I'm very excited to officially join the vintage Omega crowd. As I looked around, there was just something about the combination of style, heritage, and mechanical elegance that kept me coming back to Omega.

I'm just afraid at what it might do to my bank account. 😀

Perhaps someone could answer questions on servicing. I found a local watch repair that's familiar with vintage Omegas. When I have the watched serviced, outside of anything they may find, what else should be done? A new main spring? Also, it has a German day wheel. I really don't have a problem with that as I prefer complete authenticity, but would there be any concern with having an English day fitted?

Congratulations.

The mainspring is usually replaced as part of a full service, but you may want to be specific with the watchmaker that you want it replaced.

Changing the date wheel should not be a concern since these were sold worldwide, fit one that suits you and enjoy.

Great watch.... Nice original condition.

its a super shock proof model ! As movement is mounted in a ring with four rubber grommets to the case , look closely you will see a sligh space between the dial and case !

Good hunting
