Good Evening. I’m Zenón. I recently found and bought this watch. Didn’t take much time for me to decide on the purchase. It checked most of the boxes for a 2998-2.
  • Applied metal logo
  • Two lines of text with the round Omega
  • Short indexes on the sub dial
  • Swiss made with no t marks
  • Lollipop seconds hand
  • Movement has symmetrical bridge
  • No “professional” text
  • Radium lume, possibly tritium, no T marks
  • Dial is Domed possibly stepped (Both kinds of O in Omega-oval or round)
  • SWISS MADE

Hands

  • Hour/minute – alpha
  • Subdial – leaf, painted
  • Chrono – straight, painted, Some seen with lollipop

Pushers
  • 4mm thick x 3mm Long
Crown
  • 7mm
  • NAIAD or Mercedes Crown
  • 26 teeth??????? Not so sure if it’s correct.
Bezel
  • Black BASE1000

Ordered the Archive Extract as well. It’s my first Vintage Omega Speedy purchase so I wanted any feedback I could get regarding its originality and a place to service it. Any advise is welcome.
best
Zenon

Manners matter, yes. For the rest: These might be the worst pictures I've seen here in the quest to make any decision about originality or not. For your sake I hope, that the crystal ix badly scratched around the 4 o'clock mark and not the Dial.... Is the wide armoured ring inside the crystal corroded?

Yeah the 6th June 2023 extract has me wondering?…

That could be fine. Omega is still processing request made prior to the temporary closure.

As to the watch in question: appears to be a rough, yet original example. If it was mine, I’d be tempted to give it a Hyman-treatment.

Yeah, “rough but original” seems to be a good overview based on this pics.
It will never be a show stopper but a clean, crystal polish and possibly a good relume would likely improve the overall look.

I like it, strong case, lollipop and a Base 1000 bezel. I'd definitely go a re-relume to really make it shine and think it will look fantastic there after.

And I do agree, manners are something which can't be bought but should always be present.

I think a good research of how to relume dial/hands should be in place right now for this example.

I’m not sure if it’s corroded.

Zooming in on the photo you just shared, there are spots that look like corrosion. Regardless, the tension ring has a lot of heavy wear and what looks like bubbling on it.

You already bought it. How does anything we might think make a difference at this point?
