Looking for first Omega

@DoctorEvil @matlt @chipotlefire Thanks again for the feedback, guys. One more question:

I really like the 1861s and they seem to be durable, for the most part, based on what I've read. What was the last year Omega made them - was it 2020 right before the 3861 dropped in 2021 (or perhaps 2022?), or are they still making 1861s, or did they stop creating them sometime back?

Also, what is their technical model #? I realize 1861 is technically the caliber, want to make sure I'm looking for the correct model # too.

The one I posted the link to above is a 3570.50.00 - is that the model # I want to look for in getting an 1861, or is that specific to a particular year or timeframe? Any model years I definitely want to avoid?

Thanks again, almost ready to pull the trigger! Just trying to get educated on Speedys a bit more first.

Other more knowledgeable people can provide their expert input, but I can say have had a 2007 3570.50 for 15 trouble-free years, and it's just now had its first service. I think that speaks for its robustness and reliability.

3570.50 is the model number for the standard solid case back with hesalite crystal. I’d have to find numbers to back it up, but I imagine the 3570.50 is the highest volume production of any speedy, so there’s a lot available in the used market. There’s also the 3572 and 3573 with display backs

Thanks for both of your replies - really helpful. I think a 3570.50 may be the path forward for me.

@Cenzo What model is that 1861 you linked to on the forum? Is that a 3570.50 or some variation? I don't know which digits in the long string of them listed for that watch are the "significant" ones, but no consecutive ones make up "3570" (or 3572 or 3573, per the variations @matlt mentioned above).

I was in the same boat.. wanted new, hesalite and prefer not to be on the newer 3861 while they flush out issues. someone earlier posted one from the same seller I just got mine from.. Demollo. Seemed like a no brainer - discount on new watch with over 4yr factory warranty remaining. Other than a little lag on the delivery (not his fault, just a lot of things going on in that region slowing things a tad). Know the choice was the right one when I saw the packaging... Take a look thru the sellers on this forum - several that have tremendous reputations... my 2 cents

Awesome feedback guys - thanks for the breakdown @Sswells - so that one is the last 1861 made? What year was that?

Sounds like the seller has a great reputation, that's tempting and a nice discount off a new 3861 (which evidently may have issues anyway)

Think early last yr was the switch to the new 3861 model. I wanted the 1861 mvt so was a no brainer..

@Sswells Nice - so just to make sure I understand, the watch Demollo is currently selling is an 1861 from like two years ago (or so), is that right?

You would have to see I'd he has one still available. That was what I purchased. They are out there. Anybody the dealers in watches for sale section are good. Just shoot then a msg if you don't see one listed. Good luk
