It's also a bit like window-shopping for watches.

One of the reasons I try to stay away! 😀

But as was discussed in the "is watch collecting fun thread" I get to see a lot of watches I wouldn't normally just with what comes into the shop.

@w154 ... Try adding value and enthusiasm vs bemoaning the “likes” of others. If you are into this thing of ours, the “likes” come along for the ride.

Or in my case "my watch as I'm hitchhiking a ride to the 7-11 to get a microwave burrito and big gulp.
Livin’ the dream 👍

I’ll just say I proudly rarely post in WRUW.
My post to like will never beat a few people that also rarely post in wruw though.

I dont see what’s wrong with posting not rarely in WRUW? Isnt that the point of the thread? To post a picture of the watch you are wearing?

I positively 'like' WRUW - it’s probably my favourite thread. Over the few years I’ve been an OF member, other members have posted some terrific photos of watches I’d never heard of before I joined.

Fascinating too, looking at pristine examples of vintage watches; preserved or restored but, most of all, loved by the posters. I’ve also also been inspired to seek out and acquire my own models of watches that have been posted. Some OP post watches I look out for, and others post watches I would never buy.

The information threads, the ‘beware‘ threads and the ‘fake’ threads have their own place but I always go to WRUW to see what everyone else is wearing.

And, of course, there’s the unwritten rule about any aspect of life or collecting, you put in what you take out, so I post as well

There is nothing wrong. It’s just an easy way to get likes.

Rare to post or even look, last time I looked I was 200 pages behind...

(That thread has cost me a lot of money and time down rabbit holes over the years)

That's one thread I rarely read or post in as well. Mostly because I tend to wear the same watch for long periods of time...

Probably have the same watch on for a few weeks nowadays. Just had my Certina 1000m on for two weeks and last night put the Speedy I will wear to work for the next few weeks.

I’m not sure I understand the point you’re raising.
Is it that WRUW posters get ‘likes’ because others admire the watch, photo or content.
Or is it that posters give ‘likes’ for the above reasons.
Or that the ‘like’ option exists at all.

This thread is interesting, but now I’m confused. I thought my Like count was how many posts that I’ve liked. Is the like count how many people liked my posts?

The latter. I just liked your last post and my like number is still the same.

that’s what puzzles me. is there an incentive to get likes?

My understanding is that it shows how many ‘likes’ you’ve given not how many you’ve received and, as we know, it’s better to give than to receive😉
