Yes I have a GMT II black, it's got that Rolex magic, nothing comes close. Sorry not Omega or any others.
sorry, it this exactly the reason no one can buy a Rolex at MSRP anymore, unless they are “special” or go through hoops playing AD games. People think Rolex is the end all, be all of watches, when it really has no “magic” other than perception. It’s not better than any other mid-tier brand, but people are willing to spend the same price for a GMT Master as a Vacheron Constantine Overseas.
as long as this perception continues, no one will be able to buy a Rolex because the “special” buyers will continue buying watches from ADs, then flipping them immediately to dealers who jack up the price even more. It really is supply and demand - the demand and willingness to drop $20k on a Submariner with a green bezel is too high, because it has become a status symbol and not just a watch.
full reveal, I just purchased an older Rolex Explorer. I also own several Omegas. The Rolex is nice, but it’s hardly “magic” nor is it “stunning” compared to my Omegas.
