Hello for the connoisers, maybe someone knows, I am looking for a 270.1.54 duoface in yellow gold, it appears 2 configurations, one with a white dial and one with a black dial like the SS. After research, It appears than the black dial comes for the 270.2.54 (rose gold case).
Does the black dial is legit for this yellow gold 270.1.54 reference ? Or is it a replacement from a SS or Rose Gold one ? Thank you

I had the answer from JLC itself, the Yellow gold case with black dial is a legit combo.
Now i am hesitating between yellow gold and Stainless Steel, the watch looks gorgeous in gold but i am not sure it will be easily wearable.

The white gold versions are more wearable than yellow gold maybe day to day as it doesn't stand out as much and can pass for steel. Obviously steel is less obvious still. For a special occasion dress watch I wouldn't hesitate to choose yellow (or rose) gold, but I personally find WG makes for a piece you are more likely to throw on for the sake of it. You will have the warm satisfaction of knowing it is white gold but not everyone will.

There is a big gap of price between gold and SS, I know there is people who buy white gold and are happy to be the only to one know that this is gold. Personnaly when i buy a gold watch i want it to looks like gold
I dont think than there is a bad choice here, even in SS a Reverso always look dressy by its design language

Sorry if this is a rude question but what is a reasonable AD discount on these? Of course everyone’s experience will be different but would 25% be a reasonable expectation?

I tried on a Reverso Classic Duoface Small Seconds at my AD today. MSRP here is $AU13900 and he said he would do it for under $11000 which is pretty much 20%. That was without any negotiation and normally I can get him down another few per cent from his first offer.

For context I've bought a SMP, Speedy and BB58 Blue off this AD in the last twelve months.

Personally, I love and have quite a few gold watches. The Reverso, however, expresses its deco coolness best in SS. Easier to deal with the inevitable scratches with GENTLE use of a cape cod cloth.

I made the mistake of doing some AD browsing yesterday so I’m now lusting over a watch I never thought I would like - a Reverso Classic Duoface Small Seconds.

In the post-Covid world, I rarely put anything smarter than jeans and a shirt on and in the Aussie summer, I’m more likely to be in jeans and t-shirt. Are there any Reverso owners here who dress these things down?

Thread useless without pictures:

Exact same watch I'm listing after right now. Can't get it out of my head. There really is only way to scratch the itch......

The JLC ostrich strap I ordered months ago finally arrived. Not sure I actually love the current tone, maybe it will improve with use and patina! See p1 for pics of this on a black textured leather (non JLC) strap.

I think this raises the great debate of whether a watch of this caliber (calibre for you UK folk) can be justified from a utilitarian perspective; it cannot. After all, watches of this pedigree are about details, craftsmanship, and, though some may not want to admit it, prestige. You find yourself drawn to it for a reason. If it’s in the budget, go for it! You can absolutely dress it down. The term “paralysis through analysis” comes to mind here.

To me the biggest hurdle I’ve heard folks express is the shape. It does take some getting used to. It started its long run as a polo watch.

I have joined the club. Having heard reports of the Reverso being tricky size-wise I was concerned that this would look overly large. I think it looks fine however.

Congrats! I love both dials also that they are both silver. The strap looks great too.

Bravo @Vizard. That is beautiful.

Thanks Padders.

Having a gold watch does present a problem with cuff links. I need to buy some more obviously. Though my late father did provide some that suit quite well.

Hi fellow Reverso owners!

Here are my two watch collection.

1. Reverso Day and Night (Q2712410)
2. Reverso Gran Sport Chronograph (295.8.59)

I do apologize for the crappy angle and lighting… and finger prints… anyways, I’ve tried dressing down the rose gold with a rubber strap, but it looked “forced” to be casual. But I would suggest suede, saffiano or the OG ostrich watch straps if you don’t want to wear crocodile. Stainless steel Reverso also has a better range of colours to choose from than rose gold.

Thought I'd share mine, a Grande Taille model with its' OEM SS bracelet which I think maintains a bit sportier "wear" for the Reverso
