I made the mistake of doing some AD browsing yesterday so I’m now lusting over a watch I never thought I would like - a Reverso Classic Duoface Small Seconds.

In the post-Covid world, I rarely put anything smarter than jeans and a shirt on and in the Aussie summer, I’m more likely to be in jeans and t-shirt. Are there any Reverso owners here who dress these things down?

Thread useless without pictures:

While I don't own a Reverso, I often wear a Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde with jeans and a t-shirt. For me, it works.

I will say that I wear it on a brown strap, which helps reduce the seriousness of a black strap.

Just my two cents.

Most definitely yes - I wear mine with casual straps and jeans and then swap to a croc for more formal. Watchgecko does a range of sensibly priced 19mm straps with quick release mechanisms including smart and casual, so making it easy to change as the mood takes you....

Just remember ... this started its run as a sports watch!

I too fell for the considerable charms of a Reverso Duoface. Mine is a 1990s model with tritium lume. Here with a shot taken during its recent service with a less often seen inner view. Mine gets worn when the mood takes me, I don't save it for anything special. It does look less formal on a brown Ostrich strap, I am looking for an original strap for it at a sensible price right now.

Indeed they did, although the Duoface somewhat negates that. Then again, I don’t suppose too many of us are playing polo these days...

First, I have to say this is a very, very special watch. I own the exact reference the OP shows in photos.

To me, this watch represents what great Swiss watchmaking is all about. The fact that it is manual-wind gives it, I believe, a stronger connection to the original Reverso from the 1930s. It's also one of my go-to travel watches because of the dual dials and the hour-jump complication for the TRAVEL TIME dial.

The watch I own originally came with the black crocodile strap and JLC deployant clasp. And yes, it has a very formal look -- it's also my go-to watch for weddings and funerals. I wanted to take this watch with me on a vacation to Italy a couple of years ago because it's such a great travel watch, but the formality of the black crocodile didn't say "vacation" to me. So I dropped into a JLC boutique and purchased a light brown strap in ostrich leather. I won't say what I paid for those two bits of leather -- it's embarrassing -- but because it is OEM with quick-release springbars, it's super-easy to swap out the strap and JLC deployant assembly (also done tool-less).

As requested, here are some photos:

Well, you guys didn’t help 😀

looks like I’m going to have to do some collection pruning to find some room.

That is the very strap I was referring to in my post above. I think it suits the steel or WG Reverso very very well and takes an edge off the formailty. Mine actually came on one, but it was pretty heavily decorated with the previous owner's DNA so had to go.

ps I know what you paid for those 2 bits of leather, something I am trying to avoid..

Or you can go old school and forgo the strap altogether 😁

I think JLC stopped adding bracelets to the reversos a few years ago

I just picked up the medium small second on the Casa Fagliano strap this year. I think the strap is wonderful and rather versatile, can easily be worn with long or short sleeves.

Can you still get them?

That’s a good question. I don’t think they sell them separately but there are plenty on the second hand market. I’m guessing if you sent in an older one for service that had a bracelet that needed to be replaced they’d have them.

I love these on the tan ostrich strap. I don't own one yet, but it's definitely got a spot on the list. These days, I'm lucky to wear a shirt with a collar let alone suit & tie, but I wouldn't hesitate to crank it up & strap it on.

Pffst, now I want one too - but I'll buy a Men's Square De Ville Omega instead 😀
