The next few weeks will still be a little tense.
With as many issues as this thing has had - I just hope everything goes smoothly with all of the deployment stages...

Interesting I watched the launch I thought it was a space x falcon that sent it up. It just looked similar to me. Obviously I’m not a rocket scientist. I guess when you are launching a 10 billion pay load you want a proven track record

Was the selection of Ariane 5 driven by its proven track record exclusively or also because of the higher payload that it has vs. Falcon X’?
I wonder… 😕

Well my main point was I was an idiot for just assuming it was the falcon and not looking into it further. I just saw the track record and threw that in there I didn’t dig very deep as I failed miserably from the get go.

Listening to the CEO before the launch was confidence inspiring. The launch performance (and trajectory) were spectacular.

To have been selected for this mission is an honor worthy of a company with the reputation Arianespace has; and I am a Spacex fan.

I suspect the launch was contracted quite a while ago. And since the european space agency handled it, it makes sense it wasn't a US rocket.

I marvel at this stuff. My wife is an engineer but she does like simple shit we use here on earth. She has been working from home for, well seems like forever honestly, but on days I’m off I hear her and her team working on new projects throwing out mathematical jargon that might as well be an alien language to me. Then you see things like this and think how massive and talented the teams working on a project like this must be it’s really impressive. I have the utmost respect for them it must have been what seemed like endless amounts of testing, failure and rechecking things to get this together. I wish I could have devoted more time to reading about this but it seems there is currently a massive amount of BS on earth keeping me distracted at the moment

What an amazing achievement. Hope it all goes well and we'll get the first images in a couple of months.

You will have to wait a little longer than that. First images are not due until June…needs a few months to cool down and stabilize temperature, and to calibrate and align the optics.
