Hi everyone, I'm looking to purchase a triple calendar moonphase watch and the JLC P494 Triple Calendar and Moon watch is one that I am interested in. Was wondering what the various reference points of these watches are (ie. how to spot a franken or a redial). Thanks in advance for the help!

Wonderful watches, but hard to find in good condition.
The dials are often moisture damaged and as I painfully found out recently, the lugs are soldered onto the case and should be handled with care.
That is, don’t do what I did and try and force spring bars off.
Also when taking off the case back steer clear of the area near the lugs. This may be difficult if the lip of the caseback is positioned by the lugs.
Speaking to collectors and in particular a dealer that specialises in JLC, they advised the lugs often get damaged and repaired, so be aware when buying.
But before you get there...I would recommend Zaf Basha’s jaeger lecoultre book. There is a section on triple calendars.
Below is photo of nice original triple date dial.
The same dial was used for the moon phases, just replaced the moon with sun seconds.
Good luck and have lots of patience.
