Every automatic, manual, and quartz watch ticks. I find them relaxing to hear. Ticking is not a red flag. A lack of ticking would be.

Actually one of my mechanicals is quite silent even when ear is pressed to case. And yes, my hearing is good! I can’t recall which at the moment I will have to go and find it...

What’s the bad news and whose it for?
He quoted who it’s for and I believe he’s saying their hearing isn’t as good as they think 😉

Hello All,

I am new here and new to the luxury watch world. I recently bought my first Omega Seamaster diver 300 from a reputable dealer on chrono24. Everything with the watch seems to check out so far including the matching serial numbers, being able to check METAS cert on the Omega website, and the serial number matching the watch in the Omega database. I did notice on the international warranty card under the signed date there is no code for I believe to be a country code. Is this normal? The watch comes from Singapore and the stamped AD is a legit Omega retailer. Does this warranty card look legit?
I bought mine from an AD in the US and and it only has the name of the store. No address/country code.

Thanks I’m new to forums of any sort and even though the help I have received here has put my mind to rest I thought the bad news might be for me but I see how this all works. Thanks again from an embarrassed newbie

How's this seamaster? Legit?

Looks like a bad fake. For starters: the bezel looks like it has an aluminum insert (should be ceramic), the lume pip is hideous (very protuberant and extending beyond the triangle), wrong bracelet clasp, and HE valve is in the wrong position. And that’s just what can be seen with these poorly lit garbage photos.

Yeah. Second this. An easy way to pass off a fake is In garbage lighting... where any watch would look equally bad.

Among other things, the engraving on the clasp is poorly done. It looks more like “Seanaster” than Seamaster. That and the lines of text don’t align.

Hi friends,
I am planning to buy an Omega de ville to father for his birthday. I compare this pics with other referecens and it looks legit. Nevertheless, I am quite knew in vintage watches, and I would appreciate if someone can help me to check if this Omega is fake or not.

Also, it is possible to restore the dial?

Model: De Ville
Reference number: 111.0148
Movement: Manual winding
Case diameter: 32 x 35 mm

I would appreciate any help!

Thanks in advance!

First the answers.

Yes it is completely genuine.

No, it is not possible to restore the dial to an original finish/quality.

Now my thoughts.

This watch is gold plated (only 20 micron plate), has a ladies caliber, will probably require servicing, and was made at a time when Omega was in deep doodoo following the quartz crisis so they produced anything they thought would sell.

If you really want this model, there are better examples available, but I would look for something else.

Hello new members...

Welcome to the OmegaForums.net!!

I have specifically created this thread just for the newbies who come on here after they have been given a watch buy their uncle's uncle twice removed OR they have bought what you think is a legit Omega off good old flee bay!

The idea is you post your watch here and it is discussed by our panel of experts, who I might add, may say few choice words like 🤬 and 🤬 or maybe 🤬.

The will endeavour to be as blunt as possible, but getting you the answer you are looking for.

The main idea is this..

It will remove the countless new threads asking 'Is my watch fake?' or 'I was left this by my dad's dad's dad from 1860'

Any new threads will be merged in to this one as of now.

Thanks very much.
