Hello guys, first time posting here.
I want to buy an omega watch that has no authenticity certificate.
Could you please help me find out if it's real or fake?
Mention: I also have the back serial number, but I understand I should better not post it online.

Reference number: 4510.50.00 (identified by me online, not given by the seller)

    Thank you in advance!

Hi all. I just received this watch through an internet purchase: SEAMASTER PLANET OCEAN 600 M CO-AXIAL CHRONOGRAPH 45.5 MM 2918.50.82. It's a pre-owned watch. The seller seems to be reputable. it's an online store in Georgia. The serial number doesn't look so clear. It came with papers. Any info would be appreciated. Please let me know if you need more photos.

Definitely not thrilled with the crispness of the serial number. I checked the number against a bunch of fakes and it doesn't match so this is a good sign. If you could give us a shot of the paperwork, it would help.
Best way would be to go to a watchmaker and get a clear pic of the movement. This would be a sure way to tell.

Looks ok to me. Don't have any doubts from what I can see but remember to always buy the seller.

    What?

I thought this was the multi denominational multi racial multi ethnecitytity fakebusters thread?

Or am I under a misapprehension?

Normally it would be if I weren't a putz and made up new rules for a pinned thread. Is this where I slink away, embarrassed, after deleting my post only to have it live on in the quoted responses of other members as a testament to my idiocy? Oh, and a deserved apology with a red-assed emoticon to seal the deal.:whipped:

    Hi All,

Any body able to verify if this watch is authentic? It's currently for sale from a very well trusted Jeweller in the UK.

This watch is dated November 2017.

What worries me is that the etched globe is missing from the case back of the watch and also the dial is around 1/2 bezel click off centre which also cause the date to sit too low. The watch has the normal paper work. All serials match from the warranty card (with Ernest Jones stamped as the retailer), has the small tag that comes on the watch with a matching serial, serial on the movement matches and serial on the back of the lug matches.

As far as I knew planet oceans of this age should all come with the globe etching?

I have included photos of my watch and one photo of a Planet ocean with a white background as an example of the globe etching.

Let me know what you all think.

Could you take another picture of the balance assembly? Try to take a picture with the watch in time setting mode so the balance wheel is stopped, makes for a better photo

    Hi,

Thanks for taking a look. I've attached a few more photos of the balance in different lighting.

Edit: Used my slow motion camera to view that the watch beats at 25200.

Let me know what you think.

    Hi all,

I've been a long time lurker here on the forums for the past 3-4 years. Up till this point, I dabbled primarily in more mid-level pieces -Oris, Squale, Hamilton, and the like- not having the money to comfortably make a more luxury brand purchase. However, about a week and a half ago, a posting on the Watchuseek For Sale board caught my eye -a beautiful Ryder Cup Edition Aqua Terra-, and I rather impulsively sprang for it. This is my first bigger money watch purchase, and I'm still a bit apprehensive given the prevalence of very high quality fakes of this particular model. The serial numbers on the movement, case, hangtag, and warranty cards match. However, I read that many manufacturers of fakes will replicate the accoutrements as well as the watch -the flawed hangtag is also a bit damaged. I love the watch, just want to make sure it's the real deal. Any red flags? Your guys' help is immensely appreciated! Please find a link to the original posting:

Apologies if I have posted in the incorrect place, newbie alert!

I would really appreciate your opinions on whether this watch is genuine. My partner purchased it on ebay as I said I would buy him one for an anniversary present (wanted one for ages)! We're no experts but here goes, while the movement inside appears genuine, the weight is good, and other tell tale signs I've searched on Internet seem ok, my alarm bells started ringing on a few bits..... 1. The blue bezel surround came off - can it come loose on a genuine one or are these pretty well fitted by Omega?
    2. The red part of the second hand looks too short when I compare it to other pictures of the watch.
    3. I Can't see any serial number on the lug - is this where it should be?
    4. There are 6 holes on the back for removing the back ase, all other pictures I've seen of this model only have 5
I guess the main watch could be genuine but have fake bezel, second hand, back etc but I'm not sure how/why it would end up with all these random fake parts on a genuine watch. The seller sells lots of watches, has over 1000 feedback and no negatives saying fake etc. It was advertised as recently serviced and polished but with no box, papers etc. so obviously it was slightly cheaper than others but still expensive! We can raise a case with ebay in next 3 days to return it for refund so would really appreciate your thoughts. My partner believes it's real and wants to keep it, I'm the one questioning it as we can't agree!
    Thank you, Clare
