$500 for a high quality replica really isn't that bad. I know this isn't a replica board and I'm sure they are frowned upon. But after a lot of research I was willing to take the gamble. I've wasted $500 on a lot dumber stuff. There's no where near me to get it authenticated so I plan on taking it to one of the high end jewelers near our vacation home when we are down there next week. I'll post the out come

You're right, discussion of replica and homage watches are frowned upon on the forum.

I'd go so far as to say that is putting it mildly. Discussion of replica watches is outright banned. Homage discussion is too, although I personally find that a bit more of a grey area. If it doesn't have a legitimate trademark on the dial, I don't see much of an issue with it. Others disagree.

And I completely understand and respect that. To be clear I would never intentionally buy a confirmed fake. This whole deal is a kind of "what if"
I did enough research that I believe it is real. The seller wouldn't say one way or another if it was real or fake because he doesn't know any history of it and apparently wasn't willing to go thru the trouble of trying to find out. I respect the fact that he is up front with that. After talking to him I believe the story. I was willing to take the $500 gamble to find out. Ince I get the watch Friday I'll post some pictures to see what everyone thinks.

Abandoned storage lockers are often auctioned off and the buyer has no idea what's in them. This particular watch seems quite legit to me and is still in the type of packaging used to send from Omega to the dealers. I would be most concerned with the origin of the watch.

I received the watch today. I am 99% certain it is genuine now that I've had it in my hands. It is in perfect condition as far as I can tell. Very smooth second hand. No stuttering or anything. Very smooth bezel movement. Crown unscrews very smoothly and the second hand stops when adjusting the minutes. Lume on face and hands is correct color and size. Very bright even on just a few seconds under light. I'm VERY happy how this transaction went. I'll try to take some good photos this evening when I get home.

Hopefully the old girlfriend knew less about watches than you did.
I'd keep the friend and listen to his advice, he is a wise man.

I think you'd get much more satisfaction by taking to it with a hammer, or a drill, or a road compactor rather than wearing it any more.

No probs.
However, giving it to your son may be misguided generosity. If he's old enough to get out and about by himself, and if he wears it, about 7.85% of the population will either think he's either watch ignorant or a wanker, the other 99% won't have a clue.

If, on the other hand, he's less than 12 years old, and indulges in boy stuff and adventures and is sure to trash the watch anyway, then OK.

In any event, make sure he knows that it's not a genuine Omega, but it's actually a counterfeit (sometimes called a "fake", or a "replica"), but legally and technically, a counterfeit.

Hi,
I'm able to buy this one. Although it's not a vintage watch, it has some colorization on the markers. Is it tritium? Thought this watch came out later when luminous was introduced. reference is 396.1523/196.1523

The seller of this watchco hasn't had time to list the watch on his site yet, so all I have to base authenticity on is this single picture until then. I guess my question is, do high end fakes go as far as to even place the tiny omega symbol in the crystal? Its clearly visible in the picture. I have a price in mind as to what these go for (based on the last 3 months of watching about 5 sell and their condition) but to confirm what I feel it's worth I'd like some second opinions.

Hey guys. I ran across this forum while looking for info on how to spot a fake and thought I'd share what I have found to get you opinion. The seller seem to know very little about the watch and little about watches in general. The watch was not advertised as real. He found it in a storage locker he bought among some other decent watches. He said he wasn't sure if it was real so he didn't advertise it as such. Just said it was a really nice watch. After looking at hundreds of pictures online comparing to know authentic ones I really couldn't find a flaw. I was contemplating purchasing it as a replica and wear it as a beater at the beach. I asked if it was in a box or if anything else came with it and he said it was in a small clear plastic case with a card. He sent pics of how he found it. It looks to me like a genuine packaging the dealer receives the watches in from the factory. Do any of the replica places go to this much trouble to look authentic? It would seem like a waste since most people have never seen this type of packaging. Sorry for such a long post. Have a look at the photos and see what you think

To my eyes yours have two different things from the backside, the opposite lug of the serial number should show "Stainless Steel" (not showing because of the light ?) and the gun on the 7007 looks a bit different

Hi all, first post! I have a Omega Seamaster PO 42mm (8500) that came with a rubber strap. I recently acquired a bracelet for it off eBay (1580 952). As I’m doing my due diligence (after buying of course) I noticed most of the images online show this bracelet clasp with the following engravings:
1. Omega symbol/ “OMEGA”
2. “Seamaster”
3. “PROFESSIONAL” even with the release
4. “PLANET OCEAN”
attachment.php
The bracelet I bought has the following on the clasp (from the auction pictures):
1. Omega symbol/ “OMEGA”
2. “Seamaster”
3. “PLANET OCEAN” even with the release
attachment.php
I found a couple images matching the one I bought in archived for sale ads here and on another forum never with any negative commentary. Based off this info alone do you think I have anything to worry about?

Hello, I am new to wristwatches (I namely buy pocketwatches.) so I was hoping for some help regarding a (Seamaster 300 36mm Black Dial) I recently acquired. Namely, I want to #1 verify it is genuine, and #2 ask what fair market price is (I paid around $800).
(My apologies if this is the wrong place to ask.)

Many thanks,
Smart

Hi all, I am new to the forum and I just purchased my first OMEGA. It is an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 2503.50. I did as much homework on the watch as I could before I pulled the trigger as it was a flea bay find (I know). Well I got it in today and the watch looks genuine but, I do have a couple of concerns.

1. The hacking function is not working. This is a caliber 2500 and should have hacking, I believe that the movement could be damaged as it should just be a lever?
2. The seller said Omega told him it was a 2500D and not a C. This doesn't make sense on the timeline but, the seller could be full of shit.
3. It came with a box, hang tag, and a weird paper warranty card from SGUS dated '07.

I can provide the serial if it would help.

I am still covered through some buyers protection if it is fake but, like I said I believe it is real. Also, if the hacking is just a service issue would I go through Omega or is there a better alternative?

Thanks so much for any and all help you can give!
