highly doubt fake ones would go the mile to brand the movement on a closed caseback watch

    Hi All

Apologies if this one has been covered elsewhere or if I'm in the wrong thread...I've been looking at this on flea bay, I think it's a genuine-ish 105.003 ... I'm a relative noob, but to me the dial and bezel look ok, the case a bit over polished and the serial looks for a 63 rather than a 65... the lack of buyer feedback is a slight worry but generally I've found eBay/PayPal Buyer feeback to be good....anyway, welcome, any thoughts!

Sorry - hit post too soon - meant to add that the case and back don't seem right for the movement or dial...also the last bit of gobbledygook should read " found eBay / PayPal Buyer protection to be good.."

Anyway, think I've answered my own question..which is a shame, I rather liked that it belonged to Erich Von Daniken, I enjoyed his crackpot theories as a kid..

I am amazed at seeing this watch for sale as #00 is or was on show in the Omega Museum in Switzerland........ Omega must have made a "Mistake" when they serialized the watch I cannot believe that someone would be so stupid as to sell this watch for only $5000 must be the one with the genuine Swiss movement that needs batteries...................:)

is this seamaster legit IMG_6438.JPG IMG_6439.JPG IMG_6440.JPG IMG_6452.JPG IMG_6460.JPG IMG_6463.JPG IMG_6516.JPG IMG_6520.JPG IMG_6521.JPG IMG_6522.JPG IMG_6523.JPG IMG_6524.JPG IMG_6525.JPG IMG_6526.JPG ? from what ive learned from the internet, it seems alright except for one thing: the serial number is very hard to read which is unlike what I see from the pictures online. on close observation the serial number goes 84754597

Looks authentic. However, I'd be concerned that someone tried to scratch off the serial number. So may be stolen property.

thanks. looks authentic to me as well but the engraving of the serial number looks deeper on some other watches ive seen online or in store. should I e worried about that?

only the one with serial number. these scratches are very small but zooming in for a clear picture made them visible. the serial number is almost invisible from a distance. its like its not there at all.

Then I'll have to agree that it may be stolen

All inscriptions seem like they are not deep enough, but I'm no expert

Looks quite genuine. Really wouldn't take much effort to scratch out the serial number if they wanted to. I'd be more concerned if it wasn't there at all.

I don't know if it's just newer models. But I believe there should be a serial number on the movement as well.

should the serial number on the lug and movement match on this particular model?

Yes, it should. Google the serial number. Fakes usually all have the same serial, so you should be able to check that easily. If it is stolen (which I don't think the scratched lugs necessarily indicate) someone may have mentioned it on a message board like this.

Well, looks like to me, the scratches on the Serial Number was done by purpose!
